Well you can't Credit saving the world to a band of "Non-Existent" Vigilantes now can you? and the Darkness of 2040 was removed to a higher level. Stingray creates a race of artificial people, then Genom? Lobotomizes and Mutilates them then sells them as slaves. where the original BGC had a more in your face darkness, with man's Blatant Abuse of Technology and a Decaying Society caused by that abuse.
and I am a big fan of Cyberpunk (both Classic and Modern), but a lot of Classic Cyberpunk (where the original BGC drew it's inspirations from) has limits when viewed through a modern lens ,to make BGC Viable to a modern audience you will have to draw new Inspiration from a more contemporary pool of Cyberpunk Imagery, in some ways 2040 did this in others they failed and discarded stuff that worked. as much as I would Love to see a new BGC series written for an old-school Cyberpunk Audience their just arn't enough of us to make it worth the Studios time or money. folks thease days want Matrix and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex not Robocop and Angel Cop.
