Make your own. I was and still am a die hard fan of classic BGC, but 2040... it's simply one of the best animes I've seen. You just cannot let them stand side by side and choose, they are too different for that. But what surprises me is how many people here suddenly dismiss 2040 and say that the original OVA concept was exploited / badly redone. I remember two years ago we had a lot of people at C3F saying that they liked 2040 over the OVA, or that both series should be treated with the same respect. And I'm still of that opinion... just stop comparing them.Thorough episode summaries are not opinions, and what I've said is within acceptable error. One doesn't need to watch all of Star Trek: TNG to get that it's an episodic show about a ship that involves large amounts of technobabble. Nor does my observations require knowledge of more then the basic fundamental that can be easily obtained for 2040.
The series isn't exactly cheap, and a lot of it doesn't appeal to me. I've seen well over 150 anime titles, and am not in it for style, fan service, or ecchiness. I'm in it for entertaining antics, and things of actual substance. If it showed up at the library I'd check it out to satisfy my curiosity, but you sure as day cannot order me to just cough up that kind of money for no really good reason. Nor can you expect me to just take your word for it, I've found most reviewers are more accurate in giving you a review that shows you the exact opposite of the reality of the show, and if they're blabbing about how good it is without specifics it's probably garbage.
