The History

The idea for a artificial being called a "boomer" came from Bioscape Laboratories, which is a part of the Genom Corporation. Heading this project was Professor Steven Katsuto Stingray who over the years became obsessed with the project. After years of research and failed attempts to create a pure artificial intelligence, Professor Stingray took a gamble and used his own wife as a test subject. He used her by implanting a small device to copy her brain functions, put simply he was trying to make a computers brain work like a humans. The test failed and as a result Stingray's wife died of complications. Professor Stingray then looked to his daughter, Sylia Stingray, to continue his experiments. The device was implanted into Sylia's brain but instead of failing, the device began to copy Sylia's brain functions successfully. This is because of the earlier experiments on Sylia's mother, the device was able to adapt and to grow.

The experiments were a complete success and the device was taken out of Sylia. She awoke with no problems and led a seemingly normal childhood. Stingrays dream was coming closer everyday after that, the device that had copied Sylia's brain functions had gathered massive amounts of data to help him create a machine that could almost replace a human. This is what scared Sylia's mother from the very beginning. She was afraid that her husband was creating something that would replace human beings, something that would be against the will of god. The team of scientists working on the project constructed a "brain" from their findings and over the months a whole being. It's name was Galatea, the first artificial intelligence ever created. The first boomer.

From the outside Galatea looked like any ordinary 7 year old girl. However, in truth she was the most sophisticated machine ever built. After the creation of Galatea, the team was given more funding to enhance their design. They then created another boomer named Mackie who was considered a failure because he was too human. At this point of time, little Galatea was questioning her existence and human existence. On the day of October 29, 2033, she acted and used her unique power to control machines. Galatea destroyed the building in which she was kept and killed many people, she was an unstoppable force.

The only thing that could stop a force like her would be a weapon so destructive it would be enough to destroy her and everything around her. Genom used a prototype earthquake device to start the great earthquake that destroyed Tokyo. Unfortunately Galatea had already killed her own creator, Professor Stingray, and was securely inside her containment pod. She was well protected from the affects of the earthquake and survived.

Straight after the great earthquake the first boomers were released into the market, their role was to help rebuild Tokyo. These boomers rebuilt the city in record time and continued serving humans by performing menial labour. However with the increase of boomer production there was an increase in boomer related crimes spreading around Tokyo. To control "boomer related crime" and to help cover up the "design faults" in the boomers, an advanced police force was mobilized called the AD Police. While this police force was formed to control boomers. The truth is that they can't even control a single rogue boomer incident.

Rogue Boomers

When the standard working boomers were being developed, their sense of awareness that the first boomers, Galatea and Mackie, had were taken away from them. Even though this prevented them to turn on their masters, there were problems that were overlooked. The design team didn't figure that a boomer could evolve past its own programming, to advance to the next level. Once a boomer evolves, it suddenly starts to grow a deep sense of hate towards humans since they were the ones who blocked their sense of self awareness in the first place. At this stage the boomer is called a "mad boomer", because it has lost control and is basically out to destroy everything.

When a boomer starts to physically change, this is when it is going "rogue". It's mechanical body is evolving into something of an organic life form. This makes the once normal boomer look something like a monster. When a boomer has reached this stage, there are noticeable changes to its behaviour and strength. Rogue boomers aren't caused by design flaws or bad workmanship, it is simply the process of a living machine breaking through its own barriers to elevate to the next level of its evolution.
