Review

"Let Me Be With You", probably one of the most recognised anime themes, has always been a popular song to listen to ever since the release of the Chobits anime. The song was produced by ROUND TABLE and features the vocals of Nino. The main appeal to this song is probably the fact that it sounds quite innocent through the very young sound of Nino's vocals. Some might not be impressed with it but many will probably be won over by its "cute" factor. Others might prefer listening to the strings from the violin playing in the song backed with the bass drum beats. Whatever the case is, it's a nice song to listen to while relaxing.

Accompanying the main title track is "Book End Bossa". This track does not feature any main vocal artist other than a female backing of "babababa badap baba ba", and fans of Chobits will immediately recognise this piece as the music played straight after the episode previews from the anime. It is jazzed up a little more on this single with soft keyboard beats and percussions mixed in. As much as I'd like to listen to this track, the main flaw with this is that the beats and rhythm gets too repetitive, lacking the power to draw any interest to listen to it a second time. The lack of a singing lead vocal brings this track down as well. Compared to "Let Me Be With You", which is also quite repetitive, "Book End Bossa" just doesn't seem to maintain the same feel, making it sound more like a novelty track than an instrumental piece.

Getting on towards instrumentals, the instrumental to "Let Me Be With You" is included as well. It's kind of disappointing though as the backing vocals still remain in the song, which could annoy some people who just want to listen to the instrumental music when there's a constant "ooh ooh, ooh ooh yeah" (basically making up the whole chorus). The karaoke or off vocal tag would have suited this track more than calling it an instrumental. On the bright side, the melodies from the strings from the violin get to shine a lot more.

The cute factor might turn some people off from the music but most pieces from Chobits are done in good taste. Apart from a few annoying and repetitive music pieces, the majority of them are fun and easy to listen to. However, this single would most likely only appeal to fans and die-hard collectors of Chobits.
