Kyo Kara Maoh!



This is a pretty lengthy anime series running for 78 episodes (obviously broken up into seasons) and I have seen all of them. I found this to be an entertaining series actually with the plot of a demon king bestowed upon a young guy and the majority of the environment set in a medievil era. I guess you can tell from the artwork that it's a bishounen type of series (meaning it's a series full of pretty boys for those who don't know). Of course there's a few gay jokes in there but it never really goes beyond its limit and to be honest it's very tame compared to other bishounen animes.

What I really enjoyed about this series was how Yuri controlled his kingdom when he became the Maoh! (Demon King) through his laughable tactics. He's always trying to get people to see the positive outlook on life but ends up having to fight for his people or against his enemies a lot of the time. His mum is quite hilarious too, she's active and certainly not a very typical mum.

Somehow I also ended up liking Gwendal throughout the series. He originally appeared to be a very stiff character with little much to think about but he ends up having some character development throughout the series (specially when he's with Anissina). Murata (Yuri's friend) is another interesting character that fooled me quite a lot, he's a very deceiving type of person as you don't really know if he's on the good or bad side of the demon world. The ending certainly puzzles a lot of people but it eventually answers his motives.

There's been confirmed announcements of 8 short OVA's (IIRC) that continues on from the anime so I'll be very interested in checking it out as this series was quite fun to watch. I recommend it to the guys who aren't afraid of the gay jokes XD or the fact it has a lot of pretty boys, girls will surely love this one lol.

New Kyo Kara Maoh OVA in Production

I'm looking forward to seeing the five OVA's that will start in October. It's gonna be funny if they decide to continue that joke about the "tradition" of slapping someone on the cheek means a marriage proposal XD, especially how Yuri will deal with it.

It's actually funny to see how Gwendal will react whenever Anissina's around with her crazy inventions but in the end Gunter ends up copping most of the stick XD. That also reminds me the time when his soul was transferred into that doll that shoots laser beams.

Oh! and I just remember how Gunter got a lot of those nosebleeds whenever he looked at Yuri early in the series XD.

LOL, yeah he is a bit creepy but I find it funny that he has Gisela as a daughter, he looked nowhere near as old to be a father and we never really got to find out about his wife. That is unless he had a male lover ROFL!! I can't remember that well regarding his love life but I certainly do remember Gisela was his daughter.

Gisela is that green-haired nurse that gives medical aid to the soldiers. Can't exactly remember if she's adopted cos it's been awhile since I've watched the series so I may have got some things confused. Started to rewatch it again over the past few days and finally took notice of the scene where Gwendal and Gunter were high from inhaling the smoke from that purple liquid XD.

By season 3...ah wait, I just remembered now! A 3rd season was announced months ago. I haven't even finished watching all of the OVA episodes yet (only managed to watch the very first one so far). Oh, I also ended up liking Gwendal's character for some reason as I progressed through the first two seasons.

Have you gotten to the OVA part with the pink bear bee yet(I think its ep 4)? It was cute the way Gwendle reacted, but it made the Maoh look stupidT_T... Im waiting for the subs for the OVA ep 5 right now....waiting...Y_Y sucks.

Picked up the 3rd season after finally watching all the OVA's. The story so far is so so but it seems like the writers or producers are definitely pushing for more soft yaoi content. XD Well I'm not too fussed about it after going through the 5th episode of Genshiken 2, managed to live through that even though it was much more hardcore.

I find it interesting on how they're going to depict Sara as one of the villains in this season. His character seems somewhat shady though I don't think he's all evil, just maybe he's got his own motive to use the Maou's power for his own personal gain.

Some funny things that have happened so far throughout the OVA and 3rd season (contains spoilers)
*Yuri has cross-dressed twice
*Shinou controlled Wolfram to make him kiss Yuri to see the future
*They're still dragging on with the whole engagement between Yuri and Wolfram
