Over here Fox Kids have just started showing this 'highly antincipated' anime...

I put those 2 words in ''s 'cos I really wasnt waiting for it.

So last night I was bored shiteless, had watched all the FMAs and Mezzos stored on my Sky+, and was flicking through the menus.
I clicked on the kids channels, and what should I notice, but Naruto.

I thought I may as well take a look, so immediatly switched it on.

And boy oh boy was I dissapointed.

I have to say this was the biggest piece of crap I've watched in a very long time.


For a while I even thought 4kids might have gotten their hands on this anime, 'cos I could tell the show was highly editted.

For example, Saske... or something, wasnt really paying much attention to the names... ran at this one eyed guy, next thing you know, it shows a static screen with the one eyed ninja sitting on the kid. With the sound effects of a fight in the background.
The screen wasnt even fully static, it was buzzing, like it's trying to move to the next frame but couldnt...

This happened through out the show several times... And it irritated the hell out of me... My eyes are bad enough 'cos of computer games, it doesnt need to be made worse by bloody buzzing screens.

Now Lynk tells me that this just happens on the TV version, and that the DVDs are uneddited...

Shame I wont be buying them eh?

Now this is just my opinion, so I don't want to start any fights... Release your opinions yes, but don't try to argue mine into changing, because I wont be watching it again anytime soon.

Well, Naruto's a funny and interesting story to spend some time. The thing is that 4Kids totally ripped apart the anime. All the blood scenes were cut, and another ones were 'redesigned' and stuff like that.

The story is not the best i've ever seen but still, not as bad. The manga though is 10 to 0, i recomend (Same with Hagaren, the manga kicks some ass!).

The action scenes in the first 90 episodes (that's what i've watched so far. No time for fillers u_u so i went back to the manga, where i started) are well done and the soundtrack is also nice.

It's just the simple example of animes that were 'retold' in the us, like Pokémon, Yu-gi-oh, Card Captor Sakura, and the list goes on.

Anyway, Naruto is a nice story. Like i said, not the best in the world, but it's good for having fun and taking some time to relax.

But at least for Card Captor Sakura there are the uncut DVDs... I have the entire series uncut including both movies so I have nothing to complain about on the CCS front. Uncut Yu-Gi-Oh! was being released by 4Kids in collaberation with FUNimation but 4Kids stopped that early on...

Well, the naruto that was shown here was the us version.

lynk, a 21 minute chapter was 14 minute long. Now i ask, what the hell?
If it was 4kids or whatever, the show had tons of changes, edditing and all sort of stuff.

And sorry, the us version of Yu-Gi-Oh is just ridiculous.
The "Cardcaptors" show was terrible. Madeline? Sakura Avalon? Julian Star? And not to mention that Shaoran was the main character? wth?!

You're sounding like I'm defending this, Rach. I am not.

All I said is that 4Kids has nothing to do with Naruto and that there is an uncut release of Card Captor Sakura. And at one point 4Kids in collaboration with FUNimation was releasing the uncut version of Yu-Gi-Oh! But 4Kids stopped that because they're idiots.

Just like you, I don't like it when companies cut up and edit animes and hate it when they do. IMO, the least they could do if they are going to cut it up for a TV viewing, is release the uncut version on DVD for people like me who want to see the original version.

The version of CCS I have is on DVD and features the original Japanese track with English subtitles, and nothing but the original Japanese track with English subtitles. Of course the English version is ridiculous; I HATE the English version, Cardcaptors, and have complained about it many times before. I'm very glad I have the uncut version on DVD.

I hate 4Kids just like everyone else. They've done some terrible things including cutting up and raping One Piece, an anime I absolutely love, so do not think that I was defending them or anyone else who at least doesn't provided the original Japanese version.

To me, it doesn't matter how good or bad the English version is or if it's cut or not, just as long as there is the original Japanese version available, it's all good. I sometimes watch the Japanese version of an anime instead of the English if the English version doesn't live up to my standards. The latest anime I'm doing this with is My-HiME.

And yes, obviously there is a HUGE difference between uncut Naruto and cut up Naruto. I've seen the difference and I hate it, just like I hate it with One Piece, etc.


But just so you know the companies involved with the English version of Naruto are... ShoPro Entertainment and STUDIOPOLIS, Inc.. And even they weren't the ones purely responsible for the edits and cuts. The broadcasters who show these shows on TV wanted to list Naruto as a children's television series and try to simulate the same success that was had with Dragonball Z. To do achieve that goal they cut it up and edit it. Again, I am NOT defending this. I am just explaining how and why this happens. And like I said, 4Kids has nothing to do with Naruto.

I know why this happens, but naruto here will be a late show in cartoon network soon (i've only seen the first episodes shown in the latest con here. terrible. just terrible). So, it's pretty strange x_x

Yeah I know x.x it really does suck, I'm still pissed about what 4Kids did to One Piece. Madman Entertainment over here said that they could possibly get an uncut release of it down here but they haven't been able to and finally said awhile back that they don't think they can after all... bleah x.x

But we do have the uncut DVD release of Naruto, though I'm not that crazy about Naruto to actually invest my money in it XD I would buy all of the DVDs for an uncut DVD release of One Piece though, no hesitation.

Naruto, for me, like Inuyasha, just was too long. I love a good money maker as much as the next person, but unles you've got something REALLY gripping, 100+ episodes it FAR too much. Much better shows have been made with a quarter the episodes of Naruto.

I watch it on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, I dont know if the editing is any different than 4 Kids, I assume it is due to air time and the general...uh...audience of AS's shows, but it's not the editing that bugs me, it's just...well, not a real good show IMO. It's just a new DBZ with new characters and new powers.

I've actually seen some of the uncut Naruto...my friend showed me some fansubs before it started airing, and...still...it's just like...DBZ. Long, drawn out fights with people who take a beating that would put Superman in his place and they still get up because of "love" or "honor" or some crap like that., and then, worst of all, they win! ugh, and why do bad-guys always run off when a kid shows they're not dead yet?

Bad-guy Rule 1: When you have the chance, kill your enemy. Dont ask questions, dont make a speach, no fruity goodbyes or trying to turn them, just kill them and get it over with.

Watched that on fox kids today, then borrowed the first dvd of my friend, but alas i didnt enjoy Naruto... Maybe if i hadn't watched DBZ alot before but not now :S

Hehehe. Well, I can safely say that I very much enjoy watching Naruto on TV. Quite a lot actually! But, there's a reason this 29+ year old likes watching a kids show...

... because I can watch it with my ~10 year old kids, who also love the show very, very much. Its a show that the kids really get into. It's a show that while somewhat edited on TV, is just on the edge of what I feel comfortable letting them watch.

Just one problem though... now my 12 year old has found youtube... and Naruto fansubs... she's past episode 100 now!!! Naruto has created a monster in my house! I don't even watch fansubs that much!!!!

The manga is awesome (wish I could get 'em all). But, the anime isn't too good. Full of fillers, and yeah, the fights are drawn out with all that talking. The only part in Naruto that I enjoyed watching was the battle between the Hokage and Orochimaru, and I even had to skip some parts coz they were talking and reminiscing so much. I wonder why people who have only watched the anime like Naruto so much.

Rebel, if you want kick-ass battles, watch Bleach. The first episodes up to the Soul Society arc are awesome, and has a lot less flashbacks and long talks than Naruto (although the Soul Society arc does become ladden with flashbacks in some parts). I don't recommend continuing after the Soul Society arc, coz the filler Bount arc bored the shit even out of me, and I'm a Bleach fan.

Author just so you know Jetix made extra cuts compared the the original cuts that where already made. Ive been watching the Japanese version the past few days its loads better. Its got a guy who Naruto calls Perverted Hermit and he keeps peeking on girls and stuff and theres more swearing, blood, sexual things.

The story is actually quite good and each character has like their own storys and flashbacks. Also the little informational bits about whats happening to chakra and stuff XD

Rebel: As Kyuubichan recommended, watch Bleach. Well, before the fillers start, cuz they suck, but watch Bleach. It was good enough that I was motivated to watch the whole series in a week (yes, I know that watching 93 episodes in a week is rather insane, but I have absolutely no life right now, cuz school has yet to start, and I don't have a job). It has really sweet battle scenes, and a good storyline.

And Naruto, I only read the manga. For some reason I hate the animation done in Anime Naruto, it really annoys me.

I have to agree Naruto sucks its too much drawn out, I watched the first 10 ep and gave it a shot, and whats with him? he has a ninetails trapped in him so

I've heard alot about bleach, perhaps when I clear up some HD space I'll check out some subs....I'm the epitomie of broke right now. I've still got half a season of G1 Transformers to watch though.

Had it since time immemorial. BUT I don't own a PS1, my cousin does (he has a PSone, the smaller version of the original). I heard around that time that Valkyrie Profile was awesome, so I grabbed an original when I saw one at the mall (no one else here reads EGM, thus VP was gathering dust in the shelves). Cost about... hmm.... P2000/P53... in today's terms: US$38.00 ...Graphics look something like the first GBA games.

Eh, still, lucky you. I only got to have a PSP version. It's still a sweet game though. The only problem is the character sprites get a little fuzzy when it zooms in a lot.

I got the PS1 version when it was released. While VP might be rare, nothing will top how rare Suikoden 2 would be.

I'm a fan of Naruto, like I am with many other anime. I have the time to watch a long series such as Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. That usually a reason for people to not bother jumping into Naruto and series with a large amount of episodes.

Unless you watch a good portion of Naruto or any anime series, how about you avoid saying the series "suck" just because you only watched one or two episodes and did not meet your preference. I tend to believe anime that don't fall into my preference don't suck, but rather are just not for me.

Naruto does have it up and down. Naruto endlessly "I won't give up" attitude could get quite irrating after that many numbers. It also doesn't help they're showing a year of fillers, which has continue to use Naruto as the central theme instead of allowing other characters to star in their own episode or story arc, which is just baffling. If you don't like theme or storyline, because it bore you, doesn't make the anime bad. At least point out why the series is bad with actual reasons instead of your opinion. You're welcome to not like the series, but don't say it sucks just because you don't like it.

Naruto is a decent anime in my book. I'm following the manga, but Naruto turning more and more into Dragon Ball Z just like Bleach. Let's power train until the big boss of this story arc show up and beat him up with our new found power! Yes, oddly, Naruto now training until the enemy arrive while they same exact situation happening in Bleach.

Also, the begin of both of these series were not like Dragon Ball Z, but the later parts. I wonder if people are just generalizing the series since it's long and has action and just assume it's a Dragon Ball Z clone instead of confirming it?

The threadstarter dislikes Naruto because of the dubbed version. That's his opinion.

IMO, Bleach > Naruto because:
1. Comparing the first 100 episodes, a lot more interesting things have happened in Bleach. Even though I liked some of the battles in Naruto, they were too drawn out, with too much of the same flashbacks.
2. Bleach includes the story of almost every protagonist (even antagonists).
3. Ichigo, unlike Naruto, is actually smart and good at something other than a single technique. Maybe people like Naruto better coz he's an underdog, but I like Ichigo's character more.

I won't force my opinions upon anyone else, I am just stating why I like Bleach over Naruto. On a side note, I also happen to like Dragonball. It was one of those long running anime that I kinda like (but I won't sit through more than an hour of it per day). I also like YuYuHakusho, and that was pretty long for its time. BUT, I don't like One Piece. It's just a matter of preferance(?), I guess.

Only when it's uncut, because when they turn a pistol into a hammer type thing that's when I get turned off. Also futting out anything that looks remotely like a cross, I'd rather not watch the edited version because it is so badly edited.

But onto Naruto, They cut out alot of the good stuff, and lord knows it's going to get worse when Jiraiya comes into play and later, think they'll be able to say Death God since One Piece can't even say die or death? If not, what the hell are they going to call it since you don't really get the point without the name. so I just stopped watching the cut version.
