i got a couple of deaths.

Starters:
NGE: i think a few of the Rei deaths could count on this. especally the one where the angel attempts to meld or fuse with Unit 0 and it starts to mutate Rei's forearm.

....then the unit explodes.
so you got to think, what did Rei look like if:
A) her body was intact. Or
B) if the concussion of the blast turned her body into hamburger.

End of Eva: Need I say?

Trigun: (where i really think screen play hits here) I think the whole scene where Vash is forced to kill Legato, the amount of stress and the surrealism in the scene, it was great, and in the end it throws Vash right off of his axels and puts him into a depression.

To me... it gotter be the death of Roy Focker in Macross... it hard to describe it as it not the actual death but the afteraffect of his passing. In that sense hid death can be passed by that of Jiro Yamada A.K.A Gai Daigoji from Martian Successor Nadesico. His death left even greater impact on his friends and co-workers even if he was shot uncharactlistly

Cowboy Bebop: Spike. You know he's as good as dead when Julia dies. Jet knows it, Faye knows it and he knows it. So when you see him take on the headquarters of the Synicate almost by himself, then take on Vicious, and then walk into the crowd of synicate members at the end, you know he's gone.

Also i was going to say Spike in Cowboy Bebop that is such a sad death, in the words of Spike "Bang" =P

yeah, but if you noticed in the series how that synicate was ran, you took out the boss, you became the boss. so for a few minutes Spike was technically in charge

Well another one for me, would be Ryokos death in Tenchi Universe (Though she came back), the music, the meowing of Ryo-oh-ki then the music goes all climatetic as her hand flops as the blood drips from her hand. the bloody thing had me in tears

Ninja Scroll's Tessai (the stone man) had a rather "half-hearted" end...(why do I feel like The Crypt Keeper when I do this!?)

The girl from Angel's Egg had a rather...exotic death scene.

BGC: Largo + KFC Extra Crispy

Odd Note: There's even an offscreen death I remember that seemed to have some surprising impact, that was Toren Smith from Gunbuster (Noriko's reaction made that death for me!).
