It's June now and in Australia (or maybe just Victoria) a lot of retailers have stocktake sales with prices of all sort of stuff reduced. One of the popular retailers here called JB Hi-Fi specialises in various areas including music, movies and games and recently they've begun a stocktake sale on a number of anime boxsets. Below is a list of the ones that I've found to have been discounted at a low price, they're all in Australian dollars if you didn't know already.

Out of that list, I've only bought the Fruits Basket boxset (which I planned to get since 2003 lol) so far but I'm planning on getting Chobits and possibly Full Metal Panic! and Love Hina. This is probably the biggest stocktake sale on anime in Australia so far. The GTO boxset's RRP is around $160 but with this sale it has been slashed down to $63 and that's over 50% off! XD This sale is said to last until August 14th so I have enough time to save up some money and add a few more boxsets to my anime collection. Do you guys over in the US and UK get this sort of thing often?

In the US, sales like these happen once every couple of months at different outlets, in my experience anyway. Typically I don't buy anything unless its on sale and a good bargan.

Yeah, there are lots of sales for the US. Just recently there was an ADV sale for memorial day. I happened to pickup all 3 volumes of the EA version of BGC 2040 for $7 a pop.

Then theres the current 20% off DeepDiscountDVD.com sale. DDD is already around 40% off retail price. With the 20% off added its like 60% off. Great deals on many DVDs. If anyone is interested here are some of the codes for the DDD sale: USATODAY, ESPN, YAHOO, DVDTALK, and SUPERSALE. The sites only good for the USA though. Sorry, international folks.

Rightstuf.com is another great site that has studio sales every now and then. They ship internationally too, so give a looksie.

So far in this sale, I have managed to buy 3 boxsets and the sale isn't going to end until August 14th so I should still have plenty of time to save up and get at least 2 more. I've managed to get:

Adding to a total of $141 spent so far lol, probably the most I've ever spent on anime dvd's lately. I'm looking at maybe getting the boxset for Full Metal Panic! and Love Hina next although Last Exile might replace one of those two titles if I'm curious enough to watch that series.
