I've been thinking about this for some time but I was wondering if anyone else here listens to a few anime audio dramas? Obviously you'll need some level of understanding Japanese to get what's being said...unless you can find a translation for the dialogue.

The few that I've listened to are just about as good as an average anime episode of certain series, they can provide some good background details on characters and storylines even though most of the time they rarely add anything to the main story of the anime. E.g. I've listened to all 5 volumes of the Chobits drama CD's and the 3rd volume gives some real good insight into Shinbo's personality and attitude (most particularly towards Miss Shimizu).

The most hilarious audio drama I've listened to so far is the 2nd drama track on the 2nd volume of the Assorted Shana CD's from Shakugan no Shana. It was funny to listen to Yoshida getting advice from Margery Daw on how to attract guys with her large breasts. Margery plays around with them for a few seconds XD. It gets even funnier towards the end where it has Ike, Shana, Yuji and Yoshida all involved in a big commotion Yoshida takes up the advice from Margery and puts Yuji's hand on her breasts ROFL! Then Shana gets angry and takes his other hand and puts it on her small breast for him to compare XD. It also had Ike trying to pick up chicks after running into Margery and asking for advice on that. He ends up hitting on Shana without even realizing it was her since she had her back turned facing a window waiting for Yuji to come out. That's when the big commotion starts and Yoshida sees them across the street and gathers up her courage to show her love for Yuji lol.

I don't know Japanese so I haven't really listened to any. But it might be something I'm interested in once I take some classes on it next year.

So, envious. In my state i'm merely self-study with regards to japanese.
