Not exactly. I just thought it was a creature that couldn't go into light and had special powers. Matsuri seem to be the only true yaka while Aono was converted to preserve her life. A yaka, which would be Matsuri, was just viewed as demon, it just might have been she had powers, like a witch and people shun her for it.
