EDIT=Accidental double qouting
Say what? I haven't heard about anything such as that, most people like the characters. I personaly like the fact that the mecha wherent invented in Japan.
Yes there are some themes that involve Japanese patriotism (Pride, respect as a citizen, fighting for the country, brith heritage such as either full or half, and what side you take) but I have not heard of any complaints about it on my end in my University club.
Moving to second part of Post~~~~~
The Main protagonist of our story comes in. His name is Lelouch Lamperouge, a full blooded Britanian teenage student. He spends his days palying chess and being choufered by one of his friends on a motor bike. He aquires the power of Geass by a contract by a strange girl called C.C. or as pronounced in the anime, C2.
Lelouch Lamperouge, future heartbreaker, mind bender and battlefield chess commander
My stamp collection bores me
Geass is a form of mind control, but it does more than that.
When the user of Geass comes in to eye contact witha person, he/she can control the person to do anything, anything, they want as long as they remain with eye contact. This power goes as far as being able to tell people to shoot themselves, do activites beyond what they would normaly do, or to do things that are at a later date.
I have to hold my stare while I tell you what to do.
Then you have the other side, the Japanese Liberation front, as well as the resistance fighters that fight in the ghettos as well as in "Domesticated" brtanian zones. They fight with guerilla tactics, organized military structure and other methods to undermine the efforts of the britanian empire to control them.
Truthfully, I would be giving away major plot points but here a few key things that are neat about this show.
The mecha design is by Bandai, who did mobile suit gundam as well as Eureka 7, so expect some color and unique machines rolling out.
CLAMP only does character design, so you have the sort of stylized long limbed body structure that is CLAMP's signature style.
The series also features music from the group taht sung for the Eureka 7 opening theme. The song used in the intro is called COLORS.
One thing to giggle about this series though, is that it is sponsored in part by Pizza Hut Japan. Yes, you will see product placements, as well as some of the main characters collecting coupons to get free stuffed animals and such.
Can you find the product placement?
My bear. MINE!
OK, to prevent plot spoils ask me what else you guys want to know, unless you want to use Wiki yourselves.
