After having a marathon of all 14 eps of Haruhi, I must say the story is certainly interesting and kept me hooked. However, I will stop short by saying I wouldn't consider myself a "Haruhiist" yet as I didn't find it that amazing as much as the hype surrounding it says.

Yes, I actually did understand the majority of the major plot points of the series despite its weird broadcast order of the episodes (I had already figured out what the first broadcast episode was halfway into it). The characters had their usual personality traits and I must say I love the irrational and quick to act personality of Haruhi.

The scenes of her taking advantage of Mikuru always provides a great laugh and one notable scene I liked personally is the SOS Brigade playing that computer game against the Computer Society Club where Haruhi's team kept on being bombed five days in a row from just practising lol. The episodes where they tried to solve a murder case was another highlight as it had an unexpected conclusion.

I look forward to seeing season 2 of Haruhi along with the second season of Shana as well. I do however have some questions regarding the characters of Haruhi and how they affected the storyline.

1) I still find it hard to find an answer to why Haruhi chose Kyon out of all the people for her to create the world she lives in. Does anyone know why?

2) Could it be that Kyon wanted to create his own ideal world too that sparked a connection between him and Haruhi?

3) How did Haruhi end up possessing the power that she has?

I kinda watched all the Haruhi series because of that first ep. It was pretty good. Some of it was kind of predictable. Or maybe that was just me. Sorry, Darky, I don't think I can answer you questions, their a bit to complex for me. Anyway, why don't they use that "Mi - Mi - Mi-i-ku-ru" thing that they used in the 1st ep anymore, that was pretty catchy.

btw some of this is probably spoilers for those of you who haven't seen it (which btw should be NO ONE).

1. I don't think anyone really knows the answer to this. Haruhi doesn't know about her power and how she is different. I assume she would be the only one to know the answer if she realized what she was. There are probably different theories on this but nothing official.

2. I think there is more to Kyon than they tell us but I don't think thats it. I felt like Kyon is definitely an ordinary human. But theres gotta be something they're not telling us, I mean we don't even know his real name. Plus I think Kyon is way too cynical to want to create his own world. I could be way off but thats just my impression.

3. I think this is another thing that may be explained as season 2 rolls around. I could be forgetting stuff because I haven't watched all of it in a while but I think all we were told was that she was like a god but doesn't know it yet.

Hope that sheds some light on it, I know its not all perfectly clear but I think thats how they meant it to be.

Yeah I don't think theres much info on the new season. Originally it was supposed to air this fall but obviously that didn't happen. Most likely either in the winter or next spring it will air.

Just finished watching season 1 today. I was expecting a lot from this series and I thought it delivered the hype myself. Very entertaining and light-hearted. Considering season 2 hasn't aired yet in Japan though its going to be a while before I see it since I typically wait until all the DVD's are released here in the states before I watch the series.

I didn't see an answer to the questions about Kyon or Haruhi either, although the opening music would seem to indicate that Kyon was chosen (created?) by Haruhi to be her companion... sort of his yin to her yang I suppose. :/
