I actually sat down and had someone translate a japanese shojo magazine to me the other day, and One Piece was in it. Safe to say, I had someone buy me about four more in the coming weeks and translate on a piece of paper the words for me again. I like what I'm reading.

So in conclusion; (i will gather much flame for this) anime=shit, manga=t3h shit

I've been reading the manga too... and the anime is pretty much exactly what's in the manga with a few filler episodes every so often to pace things out so that more volumes of the manga can be published.

The only real difference is the pacing.

But whatever, I dunno, it's getting hard for me to talk about anything on my forum these days. The only anime I download is One Piece and I can't afford to buy any anime at the moment so I'm stuck. Plus I know I'll end up watching pretty much everything everyone else here likes to watch, I guess the problem is that it doesn't work both way lol.

At the very least I wish there were a couple more Nintendo fans/hater for me to interact with.

I'm pretty neutral about console wars, though I am a PS2 Fanboy, but I was adamant about not ever touching an X-BOX because it was a M$ product. I laughed and LOL'd every-time there was a recall or lawsuit for each console.


But now I want it for the games, I'm starting become attracted to it.

That's cause it was dubbed by 4Kids. Their English versions were recorded by Satan himself!

FUNimation has the rights to One Piece now and they've got a different cast playing the characters. From what I hear it's pretty good, though the TV version is still edited, the overall story is accurate to the original. Plus FUNimation is releasing One Piece on DVD completely uncut with the Japanese version on it as well like anime DVD releases should be.

Now if they would just hurry up and release those DVDs, I can get busy buying them and not have to download anymore *shakes fist*

i have no doubt that all the episodes will be redubbed and unedit. shit, from what it looked like all the episodes of DBZ were at one point redubbed before the remastered version came out

Must watch for those who think that voice actors for English versions of animes are just pulled out of a line randomly. The folks in Japan have a big say as well.

Clip of the FUNimation dub of One Piece, you'll notice some familiar voices. The voices do sound different from the Japanese version, but the spirit is still there, so I approve *nods*

The FUNimation dub is alright. I watched one episode of it awhile ago. Id still prefer the original Japaneses one with subs though =P

I've seen 331 episodes at time of writing. I think theres only 331 or 332 episodes all together at the moment

I'd be fine watching both the Japanese and FUNimation versions. I pretty much watch both language versions of almost every anime I buy anyway so *shrugs*

There are 334 episodes + 8 movies + 4 or maybe 5 specials and one OVA which isn't related to the current series so far.

I've only seen 233 episodes, 6 movies, 3 specials and that one OVA so far. I've only seen that much because I watch the Kaizoku-fansubs version of the series because they release their subs in high quality video.

Plus FUNimation is releasing their uncut version on DVD soon so I'll stop watching the fansubs altogether and buy the DVDs when they come out.

I use to watch only Kaizoku-fansubs. But then I got impatient and watch all the crappy quality ones (INP fan subs xD). I've seen 6 movies, and the OVA too. I dunno how many specials I have seen, I think 4 but maybe 3.

One thing I looked for but haven't been able to find. Oda drew out a alternative start I think. Where Luffy got his hat from his grandpa and had to fight a wizard or witch or something ( there was magic in One Piece =O) But I haven't been able to find scans of it anywhere.

I've got a couple of volumes of One Piece a friend gave me, but they're written in Japanese (mostly kanji). And I suck at reading kanji!!
I also have no idea in which order they go as everything seems to have no coreographical correlation. I've reading everything in it I could translate, but made about as much sense to me as sticking live eels up your arse. (type "shoving eels in ass" on youtube to see what I mean...)
