BGC Ova Vs BGC-2040
#41
Hate to do this, but...
  • There are no non-VOOMER cyberoids, just VOOMERs. That's why Genom was the most powerful company in the world, they had the technology that no one else could come close to at all.
  • Genom would foot the bill, in a way. The company would go under and cease to exist after the events of BGC2040, the world would make sure of it.
  • Priss wouldn't sell out.
  • The AD Police disbanded.

But in the end there are too many plotholes in BGC2040 to create a good sequel. You'd only get something that is worse than what 2040 had and may even make things worse for the first series. 2040 did leave an open end but the events that lead to that end but it's not a very solid structure to build on XD

one of the concepts for Bubblegum Crash 204X was before Stingray made his Voomer he expermented with other types of Cyberoids, only they wernt as economical, versatile and reliable as the later Voomer so after a short run they where made obsolete by the "Better" Voomer. the New/Old Cyberoids are more like those seen in the orignal Crisis and Crash than the 2040 Voomer

Genom is too big to die and anyway they blamed it all on Rosencroits and Masion, the world is trying to make them hurt more by making them rebuild Tokyo out of their own coffers.

Priss Didn't sell out she is just a bigish Indi act, she goes through Managers and Prmoters like crazy bacause she won't sell out, she Won't do Pop, She Won't do Idol all she dose is ROCK and Balards.

ADP got Reformed bacause the N-PD couldn't take in a bunch of Adrenaline Junkie Uraban Commandos but the needed them to act as SWAT teams and to Deal with Cyberoid Crime.

Bubblegum Crash 204X as I see it would be a Re-Write/Make of the orignal BGC using the 2040 Character art and the best mechanicals art from 2040 and the orignal

(This post is written to match the paragraphs you wrote)

There is no real evidence of "cyberoids" created by Dr. Stingray, the collective work Dr. Stingray did was to create the VOOMER technology. He succeeded by creating Galatea and Mackie, they were the first and then Genom used Dr. Stingray's research to create their mass produced VOOMERs you see in the series. The "new cyberoids" wouldn't be able to be like the original Boomers because the BGCOVA Boomers were more human than the VOOMERs found in 2040. They were closer to what Mackie is in a way, they were machines that were able to pass as humans while VOOMERs were clearly machines, but evolved into monstrous shapes when turning rogue.

Rosenkreutz is Genom and Genom was responsible for the destruction of Tokyo twice over now, there would be severe economic sanctuons on the company, it would give the world a chance to seize everything Genom owns and destroy them as a superpower.

Of course Priss wouldn't sell out, she's stay in the underground scene and build up a huge following. She'd make sure that her success was her own and not some marketting gimmick.

I could see an organisation that does something similar to what the ADP does, but not necessarily the ADP themselves.

Oh jeez, that's just horrid. If there was a remake of the BGCOVA it would NOT be anything like that since 2040 strayed so much from the original concepts of the OVA.

You're also forgetting a VERY big thing that occured at the end of BGC2040, the final act that Galatea made. She believed she was a god and she came to a realisation that God does not force her power among her "children" so she died, and in her death she gave a gift to her children... take what you will from that... it could lead you to a very interesting place.

even though we don't know what happend to the Voomers outside of Tokyo for the sake of the story it will be reveiled by Sylia that Galatea re-absorbed their Consciousness rendering their cores Inert. the older Cyberoids are Stingrays "Faild" Experements (they where "faliures" bacause they wern't People, the orignal BGC Boomers where machines that could pass for people where 2040 Voomers are "People" that are made to pass for Machines),

And of cause Genom are nolonger a Superpower like they where in the Orignal Crisis or 2040, but their still around, infact they have put a Mr Largo incharge of the Tokyo Re-Construction.

Darn Strait Priss plays the Club Circit ,she even goes on International Club Tours since she has goten big with Japanese Ex-Pats and those studing overseas.

and the ADP where the (official) Heros of the Bubblegum Crisis, ofcause the PTB's will use the name espechialy when their Hireing back most of the old Staff.

a lot of the Gibsion, Sterling and Philip K. Dick ("Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep the book that inspired Blade Runner) was the hight of cool in the 80's and inspired lots of stuff in the orignal BGC has seen its time pass (for a mainstream audance) or has bean done to death.

and mye take is Galatea didn't so much Die as Transend Human Understanding.

The 2040 VOOMERs were machines that were trying to evolve into a type of organic construct based on their original archetype (Galatea). That organic shape varied depending on the VOOMER. In 2040 the VOOMERs were trying to evolve physically but in the BGCOVA it's more of a case of the Boomers already being at the same level as humans but lack their freedom and acceptance as equal beings.

lol, Mr. Largo... ADP the official heroes of BGC? Wait, wasn't it "The Story of Knight Sabers"? XD

You don't realise it but cyberpunk is still used heavily in this day and age. As for BGC2040, it was too watered down and lacked any real harshness, it dealt with machines but you never really did feel that maybe they deserved to be treated as equals because they turned into what can only be called, monsters.

I never did like mainstream audiences because to please them you have to dumb things down. It's a big risk as it can kill some concepts that need to be as harsh and dirty as possible.

Sorry I just can't take you seriously with all of the spelling mistakes and factual errors and mashing the OVA and 2040 together and thinking it would conveniently work.

What you're coming up with sounds like a run of the mill fan fiction and not something that could actually fit into what would be considered canon... that kinda thing goes into the fan fiction forum: http://forums.thecrisiscenter.net/forumdisplay.php?f=43
You have some nice ideas, but in reality, they could never work if there was an actual sequel to BGC2040 made XD

Well you can't Credit saving the world to a band of "Non-Existent" Vigilantes now can you? and the Darkness of 2040 was removed to a higher level. Stingray creates a race of artificial people, then Genom? Lobotomizes and Mutilates them then sells them as slaves. where the original BGC had a more in your face darkness, with man's Blatant Abuse of Technology and a Decaying Society caused by that abuse.

and I am a big fan of Cyberpunk (both Classic and Modern), but a lot of Classic Cyberpunk (where the original BGC drew it's inspirations from) has limits when viewed through a modern lens ,to make BGC Viable to a modern audience you will have to draw new Inspiration from a more contemporary pool of Cyberpunk Imagery, in some ways 2040 did this in others they failed and discarded stuff that worked. as much as I would Love to see a new BGC series written for an old-school Cyberpunk Audience their just arn't enough of us to make it worth the Studios time or money. folks thease days want Matrix and Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex not Robocop and Angel Cop.
#47
One thing you're forgetting is that the AD Police were seen as failures in their efforts to control VOOMERs, hardly hero status. The AD Police were blamed for causing more damage than the VOOMERs with their heavy handed tactics. The public didn't have much of a positive opinion of them.

But there are parts of what we're both saying that are true, I love the fact that we both argue them as if we disagree with each other though XD

As for cyberpunk, I don't think that it's outdated, it just needs to be done correctly, for instance, Parasite Dolls had a very similar style to BGCOVA but is a modern BGC series. It can be done, doesn't matter what mainstream audiences think, I'm not the mainstream audience therefore I don't care.

However at this point in time it's obvious that no one really wants to commit to making a new BGC series of any kind no matter how mainstream they try to make it.

Oh god my head.... okay you two have both some intresting points that you brought up, but arn't you both off topic just a slight... I see your both talking 2040 but what does that have to do with the original?

Genom being wped off the map? I don't think soo... Corprations like thoses have too many backers who woudn't like to see the company in ruins, Rosenkreutz might be in charge but there bound to be many people who can take over and take control and keep Genom running. think robocop anyone? Omni Consumer Products is what we consider to be a Mega Corp and their still running around after three films....
I am a Member, Not a Number!!!

#49
Actually it is possible to wipe corporations off of the map, even a mega corporation. The biggest advantage Genom had was that it had the VOOMER technology. With the events of BGC2040 the world will have the perfect opportunity to destroy Genom, a mega corporation that controls every aspect of life. This can be done by destroying it economically, siezing its assets and selling it to many other, much smaller but capable companies, thus returning to a market that is capable of competing with each other instead of one mega corp controlling everything.
You've read it! You can't unread it!

#50
Yes but you forget that a mega corp could ruin goverment figures, just think of what black mail goods Genom might have because we know their more then willing to do it. Also I doult their be worried about wiping one or two judges or other law enforcement officers out with a hitman.
I am a Member, Not a Number!!!

#51
Yeah but you're forgetting that thanks to Leon and others, the world knows that Genom was responsible for all that happened in Tokyo. They have enough information to take them down and beat them to the ground, especially if Sylia gets involved with it. No amount of blackmailing would save the company, it may save a few minor excecutives, but the company would ultimately be ruined.

Once again looks like we are dancing around a few points of Semantics. C-Punk isn't outdated it has evolved, modern C-Punk is not the same beast as Bill Gibsons 1977 "Fragments of a Hologram Rose".

use one of the elements of Modern C-Punk the practice of hideing the darkness and thinking drama behind the window dressing of Civility and an other kind of story (in the case of BGC Sic-Fi Action).

I've forgotten what the arguement is about now...

I, as in me, the person who is typing this, the individual, likes the form of cyberpunk used in the BGCOVA. Yes, I see the evolution of cyberpunk over the years, the many issues and variations, etc. But it's not so much that BGC2040 has has watered down cyberpunk, it's the fact that BGC2040 is watered down as a whole. The characters changed into very annoying versions of the original, I can't stand most of the characters most of the time, they annoy the hell out of me. All of the parts I don't actually like about 2040 results from trying to modify a Bubblegum Crisis series to fit what the mainstream audience wants. And again, I'm not talking about the cyberpunk aspect. In essense they have a very good formula of cyberpunk, but what they've built upon that foundation isn't all that great and is filled with plotholes and has been rushed along and is full of last minute changes to try to make it all fit.

But I do love how you state the obvious that I agreed on and never argued against in that last post XD
You've read it! You can't unread it!
