A new Slayers series has been announced- Slayers Revolution. I have seen more and more information about it on the internet, but there hasn't been a lot of talk here, so I thought I'd make a thread to gather what I've found out, and for further discussion.

The new series will likely not be ready until this fall at the earliest, but hopefully we'll get more information about it as time passes, including some more looks at character designs and something about the storyline.
There's been some movement on the Slayers front, so let's get started.

Starchild has opened up a new Slayers Revolution page:

It's a bit sparse at the moment, but does have a nice picture of Lina in the new style.

The next bit of information is a new Slayers manga, Slayers REVOLUTION. It is due out in May. Here's a link that includes some pics of the new series and style, and also has a bit of information about the new animated series as well:

The character designs are updated in the sense that they use a more modern style, but are still distinctively Slayers characters. They didn't re-design the concepts, which is nice.

As for the anime, the Slayers Again website notes that
"...the storyline of Slayers Revolution will be anime-exclusive but based on the story of canon novels which we haven't used in the first season and in NEXT."

I have no idea what that means, so we'll have to wait and see what happens.

And we have a start date: Slayers REVOLUTION starts in July. It will use a mixture of material from the novels and new material.

There's a minor update for today- Dengeki Maoh confirms that the story for the new series will be partly anime exclusive, and partly based on the second arc of the novels:

Well, some big news today- Sylphiel and Prince Philionel are confirmed for Slayers Revolution! The story, according to the Slayers Again site "...begins at the time when Lina and Gourry start a new journey to look for Gourry's new sword with the power of magic."

Dragon Magazine's July issue is out, and we've got some more pictures of Slayers Revolution thanks to it. The pictures below aren't great, but it looks like the designs for the characters are fairly close to the original designs.

Slayers is one of my all-time favorite anime series. I had been craving more for a while, but I never thought there would be a new series.

Megami magazine has pics of Lina and Amelia's character designs. Here's a quick , small scan of them:

I think they work well for the two characters- adding a bit of maturity while remaining obvious who they are. They are evolutions of the earlier style, rather than reinventions.

The designs look good, and the animation looks pretty smooth. It's hard to say more than that given the tiny little clip we've got.

At the very end, Lina reminds you to watch it, or she will go berzerk.

Sort of. At any rate, you can get a better idea of how the designs look in motion. Seems alright to me.

Given that it's the main novel continuity, I don't think we'll see Naga in it. I do hope that Sylphiel will return, however. She's a great foil to Lina.
