Super Deformed Double Feature
Scramble Wars is the second part of the Super Deformed Double Feature. This special, presented by Artmic and AIC, features super deformed versions of characters from the original Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force and Genesis Survivor Gaiarth. This short 67 minute feature comes in two parts, "The Ten Little Gall Force" and "Scramble Wars". According to AIC, The Ten Little Gall Force was made in 1988. And since Genesis Survivor Gaiarth was created in 1992 it means that originally these two shows weren't together in this "Super Deformed Double Feature." Scramble Wars was created in 1992 after Bubblegum Crash and the two shows were then put into a double feature format.
All in all, every bit of this is a very rare find, so if you know where to get The Ten Little Gall Force, Scramble Wars or both as the Super Deformed Double Feature, I suggest that you get it now cause it's that rare to find.
The Ten Little Gall Force
While it may not seem like it has anything to do with Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force was created by the same people who made the original Bubblegum Crisis so it has a lot of significance, plus it is the first part of the double feature that has Scramble Wars in it...
The Ten Little Gall Force is set as a parody of those "Making of" documentaries of some movie you'd see. The best way to explain it is that it's ridiculously wacky, like you would find with an anime such as Excel Saga. It's set in the studios where "Gall Force: Eternal Story" is being shot. Besides for the "behind the scenes" footage there are a number of out-takes and other, strangely funny occurrences which happen throughout. Most of the humour is related to the movie, Gall Force: Eternal Story and the relationship between the characters. There is a lot packed into such a short anime, too bad this isn't available on DVD, it'd be great if we could freeze frame a lot of places just to see all the signs and computer readouts. Well that's enough about that part of the double feature...
Scramble Wars
Take the characters from a number of sci-fi based animes, a stage not unlike "Wacky Races," super deformed madness, and general insanity and what you get is Scramble Wars. While Scramble Wars does include characters from the original Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force and Genesis Survivor Gaiarth, it also has a few other characters from other animes such as AD Police and Riding Bean. It doesn't matter if you loved or hated any of these series, as long as you've seen at least one of them you'll have a great time watching this, though the insanity is so generic that it really doesn't matter if you haven't seen any of the animes featured in Scramble Wars.
Wacky Races! No not really, but close enough. Genom is holding a race; the winner will receive the Genom Trophy worth (supposedly) 60 billion dollars! Woohoo! Yay! Enter, Priss on her Motoroid, Linna and Nene, Sylia and Mackie, a Boomer... A Boomer?... okay... and characters from other animes already mentioned a million times. All will be racing against each other to win this prestigious trophy for some reason. And all of them will do anything to win it...
