Hey guys just thought i'd give ya a little warning, if you purchase a ps3 and it breaks in under its warranty, expect alot of bull**** when you phone sony to get it repaired, they have the worst customer service ever.

My PS3 stopped working after 5 months (60gig model), i called sony and had to listen to them try to blame everything on me, when i had caught them out they tried to blame the store i had bought console from. So i took it to the store i had bought it from and explained to them what the problem was and what sony had told me to do.

the games where sticking but there was sound just no moving picture and eventually the whole thing shut down and stayed shut down. the man in the shop smiled and told me 17 people had been in the shop with the same problem over the last week, sony all blamed them and the game shop, they say its not their fault.


so if you plan to get a ps3, i say don't bother but if you still go for it be wanred sony wont accept its there fault for any breakages or faults

I don't have anything to say about this since I already know how bad Sony are with their customers... not first hand, but I know enough pissed off people and have heard enough horror stories.

Sony products are good, as long as they don't break... and it's strange that so many seem to be breaking down. The PS3 failure rate was pretty good last I heard... I guess not *shrugs*

Either way my Wii is still alive and well.

Customer service in general would be okay if they actually had people talking to you who knew anything. I'm sick and tired of the "Did you eject the cd? is it scratched? Did you restart your console?"

And why are all my calls directed to a customer service agent from India, Greater Asia, or Russia? Bleh. Customer service sucks period.

It doesn't matter what has happened to your console or even if it has passed its warranty... they'll fix it for ya, or replace it... even if it's because your dog chewed on it.

And you'll talk to someone within your own country, not some moron from India trying to put on your local accent XD I hate those guys.

Why we need to deal with Nintendo customer service? From my experience, Nintendo doesn't make poor systems. In all my years, I have not had one problem with a Nintendo system. This is where Nintendo shines. That they make a system that doesn't break and they're also aware that a game system will sit for a time and collect dust unlike Sony and their PS2 model, which will no longer work, because dust is fallen on it's disc laser lens causing it to no longer read games properly.

Just adding that Nintendo's equipment tend to be in working order at all times and if there's a problem, they fix it.

Sony on the other hand are poor. I do have personal experience with their poor service. They told me I have to fix my PS2, pay them to do it, because I did not keep it clean. What did I do? Just did not play the system, it collected dust, the lens got dirty and the system no longer worked. I lost count how many systems I have owned, but far too many. Sony's service is awful. You must buy a warranty at the store you purchase the PS2 or PS3, or you might find yourself with a bill for repair along with shipping handling. If Sony game library wasn't as appealing to a player myself, I would stay away from their poor equipment, but it's got the games I desire, so I put up with it.

Sony makes a strong system, but it's so delicate and they do understand what people will do with systems. Nintendo takes this into consideration. For all the complaining, Nintendo does focus on what a gamer will do with their system and focus on the fact their system a game system, I swear Sony doesn't. How they did make a system that will break if collects dust is beyond me. What else systems do when not being played? Sorry, but most houses are not clean without a speck of dust.

Unlike most people that dislike a certain game company, I had bad experience with their equipment, not just a personal disliking with a game.

My wii broke after a short couple months of using it (disc drive failure) which is/was relatively common. They turned it around in less than 10 days, prepaid the shipping and changed the warranty date from date of purchase to the date of repair. Their customer service peons were intelligent and friendly--and domestic, to boot. So if you *do* have Nintendo hardware issues, rest at least somewhat assured that they'll do what they need to to resolve your problem in a timely manner.

I had a Wii Points card that kept getting rejected by the VC, however(showed the right number of points on the card, but wouldn't accept them into my VC account), and they asked me to mail them the card with the receipt in order to credit me the $20 i was out =( That was a big disappointment, but somewhat understandable as I could very well have been attempting to commit...well...virtual fraud so I guess I should have expected such a reaction.

All these stories about the red rings of death for the Xbox 360 and how MS is handling it and now stories of rampant PS3 failures (both of which, sadly, I expected) are making me even happier to be a Nintendo fanboy XD

At the very least there's not a chance in Hell you could make me take a first- or second-generation console from either MS or Sony because I know how likely it is to prove faulty =\ it's not fair to beta test hardware on customers who are paying full price.

Yeah, actually the wrist strap went through 2 updates. The first update upgraded the strap so it's a little bit thicker, but then the second upgrade made the strap uber thick... and then let's not forget the Wii condo... er... jacket cover thingies...

My Wii failed a while back and I almost used the warranty I bought from Best Buy but luckily I remembered that Nintendo will do it and I'll get my wii points I had spent back. So I sent it to them and they sent me a brand new one without any problems. Haven't had to experience Sony or MS's service yet luckily.

Most Nintendo products tend to survive for years. You can find plenty of working NES. You will find more broken PS2 alone than broken NES, SNES and GC. Just an assumption on my part, but won't be shocked if it's true.

Nintendo only recently stopped servicing Famicom's and Super Famicom's in Japan. So just think, a couple of years ago, if you still had your Famicom and it broke down, you could still send it off to Nintendo and they'd fix it for ya lol.

And yeah, I still have my SNES, N64 and GCN and I know people who still have their original GameBoy's and NES's. Though the only downside is that there is still some degradation. After so many years of not playing, the rubber washers inside the controllers will start to stiffen up... which is why you have to mash the buttons for awhile to make them rubbery again XD

The two games I still have are Donkey Kong Country 2 Diddy's Kong Quest and Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island.
