Simple topic. Post what game genre's you like and mention some game of the genre that you really like.
I'm still a huge RPG genre fan myself. If you don't know much about RPG, RPG have a lot of sub-genre like Action RPG, Tactical RPG, ect.., so I will point out that my favorite genre is Tactical RPG like Disgaea and Makai Kingdom. I like the ability to control what a character with background can do in a plot in an RPG. I like the ability to grow a character's level for the final encounter with the final boss in an RPG. I've tried to get as interested in another genre's as much as I am in RPG, but never did.
One of my favorite tactical RPGs has to Vanguard Bandits, Fire Emblem: PoR, Disgaea and Phantom Brave. I'm currently playing Arc the Lad 2, which is an awesome series. The game itself is very long. This my second attempt to beat this game. I quit the previous time, because I lost interest.
I will mention I'm not a huge fan of MMORPG. Those things require far too much time and I think some people take MMORPG to a level of serious-ness not healthy for a person. Of course, people are welcome to play them, but I don't fly with them myself.
Other genre I'm somewhat into are Strategy games, but most good strategy games are on the computer and I don't have a great computer, so don't play many strategy games.
Although I rarely play video-games nowadays. I still enjoy playing beat-em-up games lol. And I've said it before, I'll say it again Dead Or Alive 2 is probably my most favourite beat-em-up game since....well Pocket Fighter. I was in awe the first time I ever saw DOA2, especially the stage designs and interactive environments.
Another game that I enjoyed playing and I dunno what type of game genre it fits into is Simpsons' Hit N' Run, similar to Crazy Taxi. I used to play The Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit back in the days of the PSX so I also do play a little racing/driving games.
I have a feeling I'll be getting back into FPS games once the Nintendo Revolution comes out simply because of the controller. I wasn't big on FPS games this generation because they hadn't really changed from the last, but because things are gonna be a lot different this time around I'll be back in there.
If there was one MMORPG I would wish for, it'd be a Pokemon MMORPG. The franchise was born to become an MMORPG. Other than that, I don't ever touch that genre.
As for RPGs, more people need to get into Fire Emblem XD
...I can't wait for The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess.

Well im still a big FPS gamer mostly being games like Unreal Tournament, Halo wolfensteine etc.
fighting games i recently got back into with DoA Ultimate and Soul Caliber 2 still being a personal favorite.(Soul Caliber 3 only for PS2.... Damnit)
Res Evil style games are still favorites as well (Res Evil 4 on the GC is pure class)

"Temporal Mechanics are a damn pain in the Ass!!" - Jack O'Neill (SG1)
What I play kinda depends on what I'm playing on...All my PC games are RTS(war games) except for KOTOR I and II. But all my console games are TPS or FPS games. I just dont think a RTS works right on a console.

How would you class Steams Day Of Defeat - Source?
It's a hugh on-line muilti player First shooter game..... It has a whole range of weapons for the gung-ho expert. It though it's a world war two game, anyone can get into it.... so much so..... I need medical help to break my addiction of it......

I generally like RPGs the best. Some of my favorite games of all time include Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2, Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, and NWN.
I also enjoy a good adventure-type (don't know the specific genre name) game, with the Myst series at the top of the list, which is, in my opinion and many others', the greatest adventure game/series of all time. Yes, I haven't beaten even Myst III yet, but they are so fun, and so challenging, and I love the worlds they put you in. Another good part about them is that you can't die.
Personally I like survival horror, such as Silent Hill and the classic Resident Evil series. Resident Evil 4 is my favourite game to date, but it wasn't scary...So I don't know what to put that under!?
I'm hardly a hardcore gamer since I don't get much time. Given the chance, I'll play the occasional RTS or the odd racing sim, but I prefer fantasy RPGs like NWN, Dungeon Seige I and II, KOTOR, Morrowind by far. Currently getting pretty hooked on Fahrenheit and The Settlers.
Just because it's in the thesaurus doesn't mean it's a good idea.
And why isn't 'dethesaurisation' in the dictionary?
I'll play pretty much anything, but I don't get much (well, any) time with RTS or MMO games since I dont play PC games. I'm not a fan of tactical and turn-based RPGs either.
I guess my main genre would be racing games, with series' like Gran Turismo, Need for Speed, Wipeout, Ridge Racer and Jet Moto being the games I played the most when I really got into gaming, how could it be any other way?
While I don't like tactical or turn-based RPGs, I love action RPGs. Star Ocean 3, KOTOR and the .hack series are some of my favorite games.
...and of course I love side-scrollers. A dying genre, but still just as awesome. Games like Metal Slug, Super Mario, Contra, and the Tomba and Oddworld games on Playstation are some of the most fun games I've ever played. Games like these are the only reason I own a Gameboy Advance, because you just dont get these kind of games on consoles anymore.
I'm hoping for a really scary Survival Horror FPS for the Revolution, specifically for the Revolution because of the controller.

RTS and FTS games, for FTS I love Half-Life and Unreal Tournament games, Deus Ex is another fav, though I was dissapointed with the secuel.
The day I get HL2 I'm going to get nuts, I have already played the demo something like 6 or 7 times :P
My all time favs of RTS are StarCraft and Total Annihilation, I like C&C:Generals too but I just played it a couple of times. I'm quite hyped for the comming Supreme Commander game of the makers of Total Annihilation
there are also the 4X games ( explore, expand, exploit and exterminate), the Civilization series are the most known, but I've been playing Space Empires IV a lot.
Military Intelligence are two contradictory words
RPG and Adventure are my two fave genres, though I tend to play any game that's really good. What really got me into the RPG genre was Lufia when I first rented it back in 1997. I turned it on and decided to start playing in one of the already saved games, I got hooked almost at the very start I couldn't even bring myself to stop playing it for a while, until of course I had to return it.
Then when I got the game to keep in 1998, it was the only game I'd ever play, though I was stuck in one of the dungeons forever and found out later that it would erase itself often.
Later in 2001, I managed to finally beat the enitre game as I had to read a walkthrough to figure out the puzzle with the stone guards.
Have a gewd day! Haev a fat and blubbery Walrein to start teh yu0r day!!11

hopefully they release something along the lines of Silent Hill 2. that was the scariest game in the series, and in my opinion the best. The problem is that i dont think Konami really realease on nintendo....
on the Resi Evil 4 topic, i liked the game, but didnt like the way it kinda went away from the Umbrella theme. i hired it, and played it up till Whesker gets introduced into the game through a conversation with another guy. does Umbrella get heavily involved in this game? it seems to me that they arent there, but then again, just before i returned it they were re-introduced...

While Umbrella isnt involved in the main story they are there,
Umbrella corporation technically is gone after the Racoon city disaster (If you can call a town full of zombies being Nuked off the map a disaster) the US government practically destroys them.
However elements of Umbrella are still active and attempting to revive the Corperation. this is why ada is after the plagas sample. (play the ada sub mission to see weskers little speach about this)
On other things im currently hooked on star wars Battlefront 2... this game is just awsome

so would resi-evil Code Veronica be the last one with umbrella as the dominant force, with you actually running through their bases?
I Killed The Prom Queen.
Yeah Code veronica was basically the last game that had Umbrella as the dominant force, and with its leaders Alexia and her brother (cant remember the guys name) dead Umbrella didnt have a chance at a comeback, now with wesker in charge its looking like the UMB corp may make a comeback in the next game.

Rpg's and beat em ups plaus action titles
For RPGS Fire Emblem path of Radience is awesome. And as for Resident Evil 4 i hated it that the PS2 got the extra Ada missions my friend got me the PS2 on for christmas (I already had the game verison) that is one thing that bugs me bugs me.
I have to say I like RPGs. I'm trying to beat Zelda: The Minish Cap right now and it's giving me grief but it is SUCH fun. I'm such a huge Zelda fan. I especially like Link to the Past, so Minish Cap is basically a Godsend. I also have a lot of Harvest Moon games... mostly the "For Girl" editions. What can I say, I like virtual agriculture? No, that's not really it. Hard to explain... but the games are much fun in small doses.

I don't think it's right when it gets to the point where someone values a MMORPG world over the real one, or spends more time playing MMORPGs than is healthy... and sad to say it happens too much for comfort. Like, wasn't there an Everquest promotion a while back where typing "/pizza" in game would get you a pizza delivered to your house?? I personally attributed that to the people who have died due to malnutrition/starvation from playing MMORPGs too much.... My friends and I type /pizza to each other for fun sometimes But, whatever. xD X-Play didn't have many nice things to say about that game, so maybe it was just an exception
I'm most anticipating the release of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I pre-ordered myself a copy a looooong time ago from EB Games in full. The game looks gorgeous! (And yes, I'm a sucker for the aesthetics.) OH! I also play a lot of Harry Potter games !!! Though Goblet of Fire was disappointing... mostly because none of my friends play ANY video games, so it's like, I'm playing a multi-player game alone. You can imagine how that feels. =/ Not only is it 10x harder, it's also 10x more boring

I am a sucker for the LIGHT GUN SHOOTS for Playstation 2.
I got 2 G-Con2 controllers, and more of the time I am playing on 2 player mode.
As for the video arcades, I can not walk pass GUN BLADE NYPD with out putting money into it. Once again, I am playing on 2 player mode as it find that once player is too simple for me.
