Online Pokemon is Satoshi Tajiri's dream, I mean we don't know that for sure, but the reasons he started creating Pokemon for the original GameBoy was because of the link cable. He liked the idea of people interacting through that link cable.
Now fast forward years later, you have the DS with an online connection where people around the world can interact with each other. Battle, trade and co-operate to raise their lil critters in one of the most well made RPGs ever made. Tis damn good!
