[Analog]

For those who didn't know, production is currently underway for a 2nd Appleseed movie and a TV series. There's an article that discusses these at the "Shirowledge" website here:

Appleseed was one of the first anime manga's translated over here in the US and I began collecting it as soon as the translations started. Personally I view the TV series as the best format to convey all the little things Shirow put into this anime and can't wait to see what the finished product will look like in a year or two.

I for one hope it's much better than the movie. Of course like you said Analog, a TV series would definately do a much better job of it.

The movie started out slow but picked up steam in the 2nd half. I'm hoping that the crew learned lots of valuable lessons while making the first one, in turn making the 2nd movie that much better. Time will tell...

The was a lot more wrong with the movie than just that, I hope the TV series doesn't have CGI characters at least.

you thought that the cell shaded CGi characters were bad? well yeah the mouths were a little less animated but still there are always drawbacks to things.

I didn't mind that the movie was used as an experiment of sorts, the experiment showed that CGI animation still has a long way to go, but for the TV series it's best not to screw around and use more reliable methods.

But if you wanna know exactly what I thought of the Appleseed movie, then here ya go.

i thought the movie was pretty good, i just hope the 2nd movie and the tv series are all i hope they are.

The animation was fluent and great, but I still prefer hand drawing over CGI, CGI doesn't feel right to me, and I didn't like the story at all, unlike most Shirow's stuff it was too simple.
