I'm wonder if anybody has got the chance to check out episode 1 on Ergo Proxy? If you follow anime, then you have probably heard of this anime since much hype has been created for it before it's release. I can't really say if it lived up to it's hype or not.
Just keep in mind, my post contain spoilers beyond this point.
Anyway, I was impressed with the animation of the first episode. I had a hard time following what was going on during the first episode. A lot of things were happen very fast for me to follow, but I'm sure some type of explaination will happen during the next episode, where the OP theme will also premier. Though, the action scene were pretty well done. The artwork is to my liking, though I don't like Lir's appearance all that much.
The concept of robots and human coexisting in the same community does remind me of Ghost in the Shell and Bubblegum Crisis series. The robots are called Autoraves and seem to function just like humans. Not sure what's going on, but it seem ''Proxy'', the two being that appear at the end of episode 1 have some major role in Ergo Proxy. They seem to be able to make Autoraves break away from human master, which also remind me of Bubblegum Crisis and Boomers going rogue in a sense.
Interesting series to say the least. I will continue following it. The future setting and sci-fi theme does interest me, so I will continue watching this series for the time being. Obviously, it was hyped up, but I didn't over-estimate how good it was going to me, so I didn't set myself up for disappointment.
