Well, what surprised me the most was the last trailer.

".... hey, a camaro? Why?"

and to watch the 2nd gen and the 5th gen camaros in the same trailer.

I was very glad to be in that premiere. Really. The story was good, the special effects and CGs were astonishing, all that tech stuff about directors and blah blah blah were awesome. And the soundtrack is great also ("baby come back!" HAAHAHA)!

Took my kids and our friends kids to go see Transformers today. I wouldn't necessarily say it was "More than meets the Eye", so to speak, but it was a pretty good swing at the franchise.

As an action flick, it wasn't too bad. Some holes here and there and some things that just didn't make a lot of sense. Oh, and I should have guessed by the PG-13 rating that it got here in the US, but there were a couple of awkward scenes that my 3 to 13 year old crew probably didn't need to see...

... like the "masturbation scene" at the kids house. Not something I want to explain to my 7 year old son just yet

... but still, I had a few really cool moments being an old transfan from my childhood. Personally I loved this line:

Megatron: "Starscream, you have failed me again". I wanted to shout out.. "YEAH, AGAIN, FOR THE LAST TIME... AGAIN!!!

Also, I had a real feeling that Starscream would find a way to get away in the movie... just like in the series. And he did!

So, thus far it looks like 11 for 11 among us C3F'ers. I wouldn't mind a sequel. Hopefully the writing gets tightened up just a bit because there were some plot holes nearly large enough for Optimus to drive through.

tho I'm not sure what people outside the US think about all the 'face time' the US Military had in the film, especially the US Navy. Not so much US Army and the Marine Corps (sry kim). US Air Force, yeah, a good amount

that ship in the end where they were 'dumping' the decepticons, the 'Shoup' (DDG-86), on the 'outside' that looks almost IDENTICAL to my ship DDG-81 Winston S. Churchill.
I say that cus 79-81 were a slightly different configuration then the 82+

joygasms around, it kept it a little slow here and there, just a sort of 'lax' tme between action, which i like mostly, cus a movie to me isnt 90% action 10% story, i hate that.

yeah there was ALOT of action (duh) but itkept me satisfied on the part of not just throwing me into a movie that i get bored and thinking why did i waste my time and money on a movie ticket for a shitty movie.

Well, there are some...key (important) scenes on youtube that may spoil the movie for you.

What the hell happened to Barricade? He is last seen on the highway before Bonecrusher transforms and attacks Prime. Did they delete a scene where Barricade is destroyed, or do they intend to keep Barricade alive for the sequel?

The other Decepticons that are still alive are:

Starscream - has left Earth and is probably headed back to Cybertron to become the new leader of the Decepticons.
Scorponok - Last seen digging into the ground after the desert battle and is presently somewhere in Qatar. Without a tail.

Hm, many friends of mine went to the movie and loved it all. They're not die hard fans or know little about the transformers series/comics/whatever. It all ended with good results and actually, they're trying to get their hands on the original series by now.

Judging from all the things you and your friends get upto, you're all happy geeks at heart, so it's not really that hard to believe that you friends like the Transformers.

Of course not, I never say that it was made ONLY for fans, I said it was made primarily with fans in mind, which is why the movie carried over a lot of the things from the original series and animated movie. And of course it wasn't the hairstyles and literal designs, but there are a lot of things that did carry over in very subtle ways, and others in very literal ways because they're universal movie... things. I openly compare the live-action movie with the original animated movie with this in mind.

The point was that as so-called "blockbuster movies" go, you can't expect to like every one of them because they really aren't all the same, even if people try to tell you they are.

Things are expensive here too, of course not as expensive as you, but our videogames cost more than twice as much as the folks in the US pay for them! And now that the Australian dollar is up really high it's gotten even more expensive in comparison *cries*
