Grand Theft Auto IV (GTA IV) is the eleventh, upcoming installment of the Grand Theft Auto videogame franchise, announced to be released by Rockstar Games on October 16, 2007 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.[1] During the 2006 Microsoft E³ press conference, it was announced that Grand Theft Auto IV would be available for the Xbox 360 and that Rockstar will offer exclusive episodic content to the Xbox 360 [2] (though they did not specifically limit the content to GTA IV). After the press conference, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive posted a press release announcing Grand Theft Auto IV will be released simultaneously for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms.

i agree with that. having played all gta games on the pc i can't stand to play them on a console. it just feels....wrong.

Don't worry, no matter what the PS3 and Xbox360 boasts about, PC will always end up being much more powerful... remember the PS2 was supposed to be a so called Super Computer too

They didn't release Midnight Club 3, or even the Plus version, on the PC. They already went to Hell from my perspective.

Yeah, I heard about that, and I couldn't believe it because they said that it was just like an unlockable thing, not a 3rd-party mod. Rediculous.

But I've never owned any of the GTA series.

Well the original GTA Expantion pack for GTA London was set in 1969... And I'll say this....

Okay I've been thinking about this and to make GTA4 stand out from the rest of them. They should turn it into a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) like WoW. Take the Settings and Missions and turn into one big Multiplayer world. Players could team up to form Gang, Pull off missions togerther. Could you imagine it? all those players on-line at once, Hell it could turn into riots if everyone is suddenly armed with SMG's and so forth. But that's what needs to be done with the next GTA Game....

Now that I think of it, London would be *the* city for a game like GTA. It's just so slick, so classy, and it brings a whole other aspect of the underworld to the fray -- but they've been using fictional cities (although very thinly veiled replicas of real life cities) for most of the series, so wouldn't they stick to that precedent? Maybe it would be london though...now you got me all excited for this one.

an MMORPG isnt a bad idea, though I think it would be best if they left the stats parts out of it, I just really dont see that as something the audience would go for...actually, with the exception of the british market, I'm gonna wager a bet that most american players are going to be dspleased with the british lingo. No offence or anyhting, they're just unfamiliar with it.

what is the fear in testing out the unknown I wonder?

The MMORPG might be nice, but only if they implemented it well. I would expect player crime families to be by far the most important unit in the game -- and benifits to match -- able to rent out entire floors of office buildings and deck it out with sweet gear, ability to run extortion schemes on NPCs, prostitution and gambling for NPCs, and all stats are measured in crime family influence points. The players gain only influence with time and in the process gain standing within a family, and perks as a result (these might be expressed in skill bonuses, or NPC bodyguards, or something) for doing good things for the family, and the family gains influence for any money they make, rival gangs they destroy, etc etc.

Powerful families will have powerful abilities, like the ability to influence politicians and the like. THe only difficulty is that crime has to have a clear and definable punishment behind momentary exp loss -- prison however is out of the question, as nobody would pay to have their character sit in a jail and rot for 10-15 years -- unless there were a perma-death concept, which is of course highly unsatisfactory. This is a major problem I see affecting the development of any sort of crime-based game. Also...where's the variety in playstyles?

Let's see it been a year and it getting closer to release date, the trailers are out and from then we gather a lot of information

1. It's a Revamped Liberty city, based primry on New York, not as big in land area as GTA SA but a hell of a lot more detailed.
2. Has Mulitplayer in it, but not as a MMO game [God Damn it!!!!!]
3. No clear target Console for the game, so PC fans keep your ears to the Rail on and I leave you with a link to the trailers

Grand Theft Auto IV delayed
Turkey's are safe as Rockstar cancels Christmas until early 2008.




Take-Two has announced it is revising its earnings expectations for the 2007 financial year in the light of today's news of a delay to Grand Theft Auto IV.

The eagerly anticipated game will not now be released until Q2 of fiscal 2008 at the earliest ? which begins February 2008.

Coupled with the Manhunt 2 ban this has lead Take-Two to revise earnings to a net loss per share in the range of $1.25 to $1.35.

"Obviously, we are very disappointed to reduce guidance after having previously reaffirmed it," said Ben Feder, Chief Executive Officer of Take-Two. "Other than a matter of timing, the movement of Grand Theft Auto IV does not compromise Take-Two in any way. We are in sound financial condition and have a great product line up. Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be the defining next generation video game action adventure."

"With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games," Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two. "Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. Bad news for Rockstar, but also for retailers. I know from my experience in retail how strong a system seller the GTA games can be. Many casual gamers only buy a format once they can play FIFA and GTA. Christmas may not be as rosy as many store owners were hoping for.
