Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't The Matix Reloaded have better special effects than it did a plot? Because that's what my mother said about it.

Matrix Reloaded is the second act of a three act play. The plot was set up in the first move, Reloaded (and other similar movies, example: Empire Strikes Back) are there to break down everything that occured in the first movie, rearrange it and set you up for the finale.

That said, you still do learn a lot from Reloaded, it's just that the average viewer is oblivious of it and only notices the action.

He is a prophet of sorts and in the first Matrix movie he was very close to being a "Jesus" but the next two movies added more to his story that while he is an extraordinary figure, he isn't unique.

Most people get confused by The Matrix because they only like seeing it from the Good VS Evil point of view.

I think it also has to do with the extremely long explanations though dialog.

In any event, the last two films seem to have killed the franchise...

I mean, they got three movies which made a tonne of cash, a collection of animated shorts and two videogames. And everything they've released, except maybe for the MMO which takes place after the movies, is there to tell the story of the three movies.

By the looks of it, at least to me, the Wachowski Bros. have successfully set out to do everything they wanted to do with The Matrix. Anything else after this would be the companies who have interest to exploit the franchise because they've already told their story through the three movies, animated shorts and game and now they've handed the fate of the series to the people to do what they want with it.



I mean yeah, I agree that the majority of people, including me, thought the last two weren't all that great... but to be honest I had that opinion because I had only seen all three movies once and in the cinema's and never bothered to rewatch them and put some thought into em.

I'm pretty glad I got the DVD set cause it did get me to rethink a few things, and while The Matrix isn't the greatest thing, I do realise that I did come to too many conclusions too quickly from the first viewing.

i think that the last movie could have been good if they retold it a llittle. they kinda nuked the idea of the smtih vs neo fight at the end. but i dont think the battle inside the human city wasnt bad, kinda cool imho

Anything missing? It might be easier to see how the whole movie is essentially personifying computer systems

Bleah, because it's a whole philosophical thing with The Matrix there are so many ways to look at it. You have to take into account the fact that it doesn't go by the same technological, religious or philosophical views for every level.

For instance, The real world/Zion/humanity outside of the Matrix could be considered as body. The Matrix itself could be considered as mind and the machines themselves would be spirit...

But that alone can't explain everything in the movie because of the different sources and ways of thinking used.
