Let's bust a move!

Just kidding, just want to get your take on the controller Nintendo revealed for the Revolution, which the console name should be. There's been a lot of mix reaction toward the controller Nintendo revealed not too long ago. You have Nintendo fan praise and bashing the controller. You have people using the controller as another reason why Nintendo has no idea what they're doing. We have people thinking this move in the right direction. What do you think?

I'm in-between at the moment. I can see this controller making my game experience much more inter-active. Just imagine playing Zelda on with that controller and swing the sword around with that controller. That would be pretty cool. One of the downfall I see to this controller is will I be comfortable using it? It's different from any controller ever released on console before. So, not sure if I'll like how it feel yet or not.

Though, in the end, looking at from Nintendo's point of view, it's a move in a direction of being different and new. The current path Nintendo was flowing would just end up with them being gone from the console business sooner or later. Release another generic controller along with generic games would lead them where? A nice spot in dead last behide Microsoft and Sony. Meaning Microsoft and Sony are getting majority of the sales, not Nintendo. I still believe this good move on Nintendo's part, but only time will tell if this was the correct move to make or not.

I'm more interested in seeing if Nintendo will have a cooking game where you use the controller as a kitchen knife and pretend to chop up food and other things just like I saw in a promo ad for it.

I love it, of course, but saying that now you all probably think that I love it blindly. No, when I first saw it I though "what the fuck?!" It was a real shock, but as I started to think about HOW it would work, based upon what we've been told, I can see so much portential for new kinds of gaming as well as making a lot of traditional games a lot better. There is good reason to doubt it, but if it does prove itself and I think it will, it'll do great things for the industry.

A lot of people have gone for the "swinging sword" idea, and while it seems like a good idea it forms too many problems that may never be solved until the next jump in interface technology. Recently Miyamoto-san had said that the Zelda after Twilight Princess will be played in a way that no one has played before. Again, people are thinking sword swinging, but knowning Miyamoto-san, it'll be far from that and a lot more benefitial for actual gameplay.

Also, there have been a number of developers and media sources who have tried out the Revolution controller and they report that the controller is extremely accurate and very sensetive, so while the promo video showed people swinging their arms all over the place, that's not actually how it's done. The controller can be used with little to no effort. Plus it's very small, it doesn't look small because it seems long but it is XD The shape is very good, a angular, curved triangle of sorts which means it's perfect for human hands.

Just an point out the obvious example what the Nintendo Revolution controller could do. I'm quite aware of what the controller can do and can't wait to see what it can do for myself. The controller will offer a different type of game play console gamer are not use to, if they're willing to give it a try.

Well by the way the Nintendo DS is doing around the world, Nintendo is defiantely on the right track.

All I have to say is thumbs up to Nintendo with Wi-Fi idea.

I wanna know what your thoughts are on RPGs and the Revolution Controller, Eva.

I don't have much thought to RPG on the Revolution.

While I do believe more RPG will be on different console during this generation, but still the majority being on Sony's PS3. I never really thought the controller would offer much difference in gameplay, good or bad. Just saying that because my type RPG I tend to play are tactical RPG, like Fire Emblem. I don't really see much improve that could be made to tactical RPG at this point. The Revolution Controller will just be controller for RPG genre for me at this point.

Though, if Nintendo pick up more Action RPG, then that's a different story, but outside Zelda, never been too keen on Action RPG genre myself.

At first I thought it was a terrible idea and it would never work, but when you think about it, it suits the kind of games nintendo makes (generally speaking), and when I actually read the articles on it, I fell in love with it. I love the idea of motion sensors, I can't wait to try this thing out

Moel brings up a good point, it's perfect for Nintendo but of course for it to become a true Revolution, others have to pick it up and create equally good games.

If everything goes the way it did for the NDS then it should be fine for Nintendo. Nintendo are making us all aware that third party developers do have some game ideas and projects going for the NRV and they like what can be done with the controller, but only time will tell whether their ideas are great or not. I'm sure at first there'll be plenty of Nintendo made games for the system and few third party games, but I'm sure that the third party support will rise over time to a significant level. After all, it is a unique interface, the biggest thing that killed the GCN was that it was just the same as the others.

A positive or negative effect could come from the Revolution brand new controller. Would it bring or make third party companies to the Nintendo Revolution? At this point, Nintendo third party support has been minimum at best, so I really don't see a downfall of making this move and I can only see it as being a positive at this point, because the controller allow third party companies to try new and invite things with their games they develop for the Revolution, no?

You point out why the GCN was not that successful. What did it offer other the other console? Nothing much, beside not breaking. Mind you, I'm a fan of the GCN, but compare it PS3 and X-box, it had nothing. Sony depend on it's excessive game library once again and X-box depend on it's internet play. Nintendo didn't have either of those feature or a special feature of their own to call, so their GCN was smoked during this generation to be honest. During this generation, all console have internet access; PlayOnline, X-box Live and Nintendo Online. I forgot what Nintendo calling their internet online gaming. Hopefully, the third party support will be spread more evenly during this generation. Only time will time at this point.

My memory is not so good, so help me out. Is WiFi connection free for the DS? Just find a source where you can get connection and play online? I don't recall it was going to be free for Revolution, too, but I could be wrong.

Totally free, unless there is some third party developer who wants to charge people to play their game online, like some kind of portable MMORPG if someone decides to make one lol. But otherwise everything is free.

The controller first took me by surprise and i still have my doubts, but i believe in Nintendo so it should work.

Seeing that controller unveiled was shocking as hell to say the least. I didn't know what to think at first, but having read the hands-on articles from a few sites, it sounds very promising. So I'm definately looking forward to the Revolution's release so I can try it out.
