Ah~ I haven't been around much again.

Attention everyone! I need your help T_T FireFox shut down a few times last week, then yesterday, my sis said she couldn't use it. I thought maybe some genius *coughmymothercough* downloaded one of those email chain letters/games/stuff, so I tried defrag (PC's slow anyway, it needed it), cleanup, virus check and even system restore. Nothing worked, FF just wouldn't open. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling about 5 times, didn't work. The only clue is that FF says "Script not responding", then a blank page shows, even when we're not connected to the internet (me on dial up).

So~ yeah, I'm afraid to try anything else because it might get messed up further. Any idea what's wrong? I'm using IE in the meantime, and damn it's slooooow.

Other stuff: I tried installing both old (20.0) and new (20.0~.3) versions of FF, both came up with the script not responding error. And there's nothing else wrong with the comp, other than it's a bit slow (w/c is normal) and that FF doesn't work.

I don't know what it is, but apperantly the port and socket numbers have changed as well. I surf behind a proxy and firewall, so this is very, very, very frustrating. I keep getting the "page not found, or cannot connect" messages. I tried back tracking to ver. 1.5, but still doesn't work. I might have to change a registry entry or two... I.E. sucks all that is good from my life, I HATE IT ! FUCKING FIX IT YOU MOZILLA BASTARDS!

I made that connection too. Funny how the new internet explorer whatever update isn't initially well recieved, but since firefox users can't use firefox as of late, I.E. cracks a million d/ls...

mine's still working, but sry to say i really dont know how to fix such a problem. i take it obviously that you gone through add/remove programs and got rid of shit, and then proceeded to program files and remove all the other stuff that didnt show up on add/remove?

then after that gone through with at least two kinds of spyware removal software? (least then you puter can run a little quicker)

well i say thats the basic thing to do, you've said that you've reinstalled and used older versions. so it might as well be a registry thing,
try wiping all that spyware crap out, then uninstall FF. reboot a couple of times, and then try reinstalling, see where that gets ya

I had a very bad problem like that a long time ago, what internet connection have you got?

My Firefox works i dont use version 2, the version i use updates every so often =P
Maybe just sit it out XD

Firefox works right for me, but I'm running under GNU/Linux so
I THINK is a extension problem, did you try creating a new profile? normally profiles are stored in your "documents and settings" folder so reinstalling firefox may not be good enough, open the run dialog and put the command "firefox -profilemanager" you may need to write the full path, I don't remember.
