What type of movie genre are you into? If you want, you can mention a couple of films from that genre you like.
My favorite genre got to be horror. I don't know why, but I vastly enjoyed the survival horror movie, mainly the zombie flicks like Dawn, Day and Night of the Dead. Though, I like other type of horror movies like Hostel and I'm a fan of SAW series, too. Of course, can't even forget the classic Friday the 13th films!
Edit - Don't you hate when your icon on the next line of your post all alone? xD

Preferably science fiction... Something with a strong military twist, so far I havn't found anything past starship troopers, and even that sorely dissapointed.

I'm really into the comedy and dark comedy genre because I like to laugh at movies a lot XD. My all-time favourite is Eddie Murphy's "The Nutty Professor" remake, man that film makes me crack up each time I watch it and I never get bored with it lol. The stand-up comedy scenes with Dave Chapelle were the best and let's not forget the family dinner scenes XD. The jokes, punch lines and characters make it all so funny and Eddie Murphy is king at comedies lol (well to me anyway XD).
There's also another one that I really liked (though I wouldn't call it my favourite) called "Drop Dead Gorgeous". A dark comedy film about American Teen Pageants starring Kirsten Dunst. It's not your typical dark comedy film though, mainly it comprises of two guys interviewing the girls entering and people involved in the pageant for a documentary with some very wacky and weird scenes lol.
The one genre I usually don't like to watch is horror, XD this may make me look like a chicken hahaha. The first horror movie I ever saw was Evil Dead when I was just around 10 or 11 years old and I was scared out of my wits watching that, so I may have been scarred from that hahaha but I have seen some horror films in the past few years. The most recent was the 2003 remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre but haven't really watched any others since then. I have however seen all three original Japanese movies of "The Ring". I didn't find the first one scary that much, the second one was more terrifying (specially the well scene) while the third one "Ring 0 (Birthday)" was kinda boring.
I do remember watching a lot of those old Hong Kong horror comedy films when I was really young where those dead corpses "hop" and are stopped by sticking some paper on their forehead with a spell XD. Those types, I could tolerate since it was funny seeing the corpses hopping around ahaha. Then, there are those old 80's and 90's Hong Kong films Jackie Chan did that I watched a lot (mainly cos my dad was a Jackie Chan fanatic XD) like the "Police Story" movies and "Twin Dragons" (speaking of which, I remember I have that on DVD but can't find it anymore).
I didn't really like his US films though because his English was kinda bad and the stories kinda sucked since most of his martial arts are always presented in a comedic view than serious type, typical American stereotype of chinese martial art actors, whereas his Hong Kong films had a balance of comedy and seriousness to the films. Some of them were all serious in fact. I gotta also mention the terrible film he did in Australia where it was mainly shot in Melbourne, "Mr. Nice Guy", terrible actors and terrible story. That's all lol.
The funny thing I find is that although I'm asian myself, I have rarely watched any asian films for the past 3 years now. A lot of my friends are really into them but for some reason I'm not that interested as much as they are lol.

Psychological Thriller- My absolute fave! I just love the sudden plot twists and deaths. The ambience is also addicting. I just can't stop watching! Bonus if the ending is a creepy one...
Comedy- My second fave! I just love anything that makes me smile or laugh because I rarely do so these days. If the jokes aren't funny, well, that's a whole different story...
QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
1) Are we really who we think we are?
2) Is time really constant?
3) Is death really the end?
4) Can I kill you?
"Observe, the darling sweetness..."
