Now I don't know if you would even consider this a true anime show. Knowing it's more for little kids anyway. However one day my sister was watching the show (since she appearently loves it so much) and I walked in...plugged my laptop in and started to do my thing. When the show seriously got my attention with this thing called "Earth Bending". Anyways, after that cool looking power and started to continue to watch that episode. It really wasn't that bad.
What do you guys think?

don't really count it as anime but its pretty interesting...
There are 4 kinds of bending: Earth, Fire, Water, and Air
Certain individuals called benders can manipulate one of these elements and are scattered across the four nations namely, Air Nation, Fire Nation, Water Nation, and Earth Nation... The Avatar however, is a unique individual who can manipulate all of the elements...
That's the gist of it, I think...
I don't really watch it that much probably due to the fact that all they show are dumb replays that are really tiring... as well as the fact that I can hardly see much continuity between the episodes...
QUESTIONS TO PONDER:
1) Are we really who we think we are?
2) Is time really constant?
3) Is death really the end?
4) Can I kill you?

Yea, it's much more for young kids...much like my sister. I just liked that earth bending stuff...was cool...idk

Yeah, Avatar isn't an anime. The element-bending is cool though, but like Eni said, too many replays. Also, Nickelodeon's local scheds are effed up! I don't know when Avatar is on... so, yeah. But I like it, especially the lemur and the scarred prince, Zuko.
But Invader Zim is the best. Also not anime though XD

Hmm... there's been an abundant spring up of anime-like non japanese based cartoons. I don't know wether to cry about it or rejoice. Does spread some creative talent around though.
@Kyu: Invader zim is indeed the best. DELICIOUS WEENIE!

Hmm...since it's not really an anime from what you guys are saying, I'll move it to general until Lynk decides where to put it lol.

While I'd say that yes, the hero is young to catch the younger audience, I'd say that the plot, the general violentness of it, and the fact that it's not childish makes it not for younger kids.
But then your(general address to anyone) ideal show for "mature" audiences may be something along the lines of Evangelion or LAIN. And this definately wouldnt go into that category.
I enjoy it, try to keep up with it, missed part of the season finalie though, that was a bit of a bummer. It'll be on again eventually tho.
On the Zim note I'm glad I can catch that on their Nicktoons TV channel.
