OH wow! I was browsing around a cd store out in town when a weird title crossed my face. "Apocalyptica" I had thought that it was a pretty harsh metal band (the cover makes it look that way) but I couldn't believe my own ears when I popped it in and the first thing I heard was the softest most expressive cello i'd heard in ages. In fact, from what some of the linear notes hint at, the entire group of guitar sounding instruments is in fact, a group of classic electrically powered stringed instruments like the cello. This cd has me hooked, and their covers of metallica's master of puppets and for whom the bell tolls are probably two of the best covers by a classical band that I've ever heard. Two thumbs up on this group of extraordinary musicians.
