Blue Confusion Wrote:Evangelion - rooted in Christian/Jewish mythology.
RahXephon - draws heavily on Mayan influences.
Series 1, Series 2, and hopefully "ne'er the twain shall meet". Apart from giant robots and imminent doom, what's to compare?
Both Eva and RahX share the same "death and rebirth" philosophy which exists in a lot of mythology. While both cultural groups are very distant from each other they still share a lot of concepts which are similar to some extent, these concepts are pretty much universal to humans, but I wasn't talking about the cultural influences between Eva and RahX.
Now let's take a look at Eva and RahX... it's funny how similar the goals of the Mu and the Angels are. They both wish to trigger an event where the old world dies and a new begins. The key is that the Angels and the Mu want the new world to be based around them instead of the humans. Then you have the humans who are split into two groups, in Eva these two groups were the people of NERV and the mysterious S.E.E.L.E. In RahX we had TERRA and Bahbem. Both S.E.E.L.E and Bahbem were also interested in creating a new world based around their vision, of course in both series in the end, everything didn't go according to plan and it was upto Shinji/Ayato as to what happened to the world.
Should I go on? I have so much more up my sleeve. But note this Blue, I'm not saying AT ALL that RahXephon is a ripoff of Evangelion. All i'm saying is that they share MANY of the same concepts and I acknowledge that they also have A LOT of differences too.
It's like with Star Wars, it borrows a lot from mythology and a lot of concepts from other movies before it, but it's still original in its own right and damn good.
