Life as a Petty Officer third class sucks almost as much as a non nco. Or so I'm told at least. Why I'm not really that set on picking up corporal all that fast.
I was in Bangkok for a day, and Ratchaburi and Hua Hin for a week working on a turbine out there. Didn't have enough time to go up North, but I was sure glad I had someone else driving for me... especially around Bangkok. That was crazy at times!
As far as the military pay scale goes, yeah I remember all too well. It's reason numero uno that I didn't stay for 20. It's sad when most of the military force is earning below the poverty line. As a married E-5, we were just above welfare... and that was including all the special sub and nuke pay I was getting at the time.
