When Sega became a third party developer it supported Nintendo for awhile with some Sonic ports from the Dreamcast, basically they were salvaging all of their Dreamcast games. But eventually they decided to make games for Sony and Microsoft as well but decided to keep Sonic with Nintendo... not for long though. Sega pretty much supports all three companies equally now, though they've had the most success selling their games with Nintendo.
