Damn it, 26 episodes just don't do these series justice 
HiME didn't really get started until about 16 or 17, IIRC, and Otome's followed the same pattern. I don't see how they can devote enough time to tying up all the different character and plot threads. Call me pessimistic, but I think I'm going to like the ending of Mai Otome about as much as I liked the ending of HiME......
I'm also praying that Mai's not going to be the deus ex machina, brought in to save the day with her mighty kick when Natsuki and co. bugger up yet again.
I'm glad they changed the Otome OP, at least, it's just too genki for the recent developments and the new theme is frankly a better tune. The music for Otome hasn't gripped me as much as the HiME tracks did, Aoi's scene in 18 was the first time that I really took note of the background music.
