Well, after putting this series on hold since it's release around the end of 2004. I finally got around to picking this series up and watching it, well 13 episodes of it so far. All I have to say is why did I wait this long to pick this series up and watch it? 
A ton of shousen action happen, some romance on the side and ever so popular perverted comedy equal one very entertaining anime that meet just about all my tastes in anime. Doesn't over-kill the pervert humor either, which some anime series have done in the past. Doesn't just give you mindless shousen action, which almost every shousen anime does and the romance is not over the top, so the series has nice balance to it so far.
Totally no shortage of characters. Mai Hime has a large and interesting cast of character from Mai the main character to Natsuki and Mikoto to major supporting character and the classmates, the other HIMEs and the villians. Nice variety to each character, too. I'm quite fond of Mikoto and Natsuki. Characters I'm not fond of are Reito, don't really like that guy all that much. Even though Mai the main character, I'm not too dazzled by her. Just another character to me so far.
Anyway, going to try finishing this series up this weekend. I know a few people have watched this series here, so just wondering what you're take on the series is.
Oh yeah, Kimi ga Sora Datta ending theme rocks.
