@Scar, you can add anything to an equation as long you don't break the equality, adding anything to both sides of the equal sign keeps the equality, so « a² = ab » is the same than « a² + A = ab +A » and A can be anything, adding (a^2 - 2ab) was convenient in this case for reach the (wrong) 2 = 1 result.
