ouch. Lol
I agree with em. I, for the most part, have ignored the ratign systems too. They honestly 'block' good poetental games to develop and enter the market
of course this is also along the side of a partial fact that with the movie industry going hand in hand with the video game industry, there is really hardly anything left that no one has thought of. Running out of ideas, imho.
Note how when there's usualy a highly acclaimed movie that goes out, there is a game to go with it? Marvel has been whores on this fact.
I wouldnt dobut we'll see an Indiana Jones 4 game to go out when the movie strikes.
Dont get me wrong, I know that they've been doing that for years, heck I was just watching 'The Jackel' (the one with Bruce Willis and Gene Bualdwin(right?)), and when I began this post I can swear that they made a game for that movie back for the SNES ffs.
But either way, between movies and games, it's a love hate relationship with the idea of making more and more sequels. Look how meny Jason movies there is, yes some was stupid (Jason X anyone?). Freedy got repeative. Up until Batman Begins, that series was going downhill fast. I hope that sequel is good.
When it comes to games, there are some sad areas. GTA is one of em. The 'Sim' games have been repeating themselves with their concepts. Nintendo and their 'Mario Party' is getting retarded, might as well add Mario Galaxy to that list cus, yes i havent played it, but from the outside, it looks like Mario 64 all over again. And of course others (which I wish I had the mental capitability right now to think of good ones)
But I will say that there is some good points with some companies with their sequels:
Squaresoft/Enix with the Final Fantasy series, but they had unique independant story lines, with the exception of FFVII (with 'Crisis Core', 'Durge of Cerebris', and then branching to the movie 'Advent Children'), and FFX (with FFX2).
Nintendo and 'Legend of Zelda' series (yes lynk i dare say it) also with their own story lines. But still they got alot of those most people don't remember.
Sid Meier's 'Civilization', I can say repeatitive but I might say that their redeeming qualities are that with the improvements with technology (argueably with the GTA series), that the games have been able to get more and more complex. Just have to get them to make a Alpha Centauri sequel, and we're in business (just becuase it's the only one of it's kind with it's own kind of features, which people still play today (just like how i got a nice sizable percentage of my ship to play Diablo II networked. XD))
Again, I can keep going, but I can just leave that to others to reply with. But needless to say, with those redeeming games, they still follow a format. FF's are their own type of turn based (sometimes real time) RP. Civ's are still their Turn based strats. Command and Conquer (forgot them) still a Nod Vs. GDI. (I hate you EA for making Generals, you sons of bitches.) Sim's are still sims. (and I run out of money by year 15 anyway :P) GTA will always be a guy running around by some dude whom cant deal with not going with out the 'all weapons cheat'. Nintendo will make their Party games until they can out pace Poke'mon gameboy games.
OH MY FUCKING GOD! I forgot about that annoying ass frantchise! uncountable amoutn of games, and friggen TV show that wants to go longer then 'The Simpsons' is still running (simpons got old for me 5 years ago, and not funny.)
*looks up on how much He's wrote*
ok, I'm done before I write more.
Guess it makes up for my idle/lurk/underway -and-i-honestly-dont-have-the-time-to-make-a-meaninful-post
(needs more of these serious threads, 'look what I got' and 'world of weird and wonderful' lost it's tickles)
