Just finished reading it.

Much like Travis, our quest is often simply to be number one and we go through not really questioning the deaths of literally hundreds of people at our hands.

But being number one has kind of lost it’s shine after becoming bathed in the rivers of blood the game has spilled out.

I think this quoted phrases also applies to others not only to gamers. Literally it does not apply to non-gamers but if you think more deeply and relate it to others reality it can also be applied to them. I think this is the same as saying "Ill do anything for my dreams" or "Ill do everything to pass this subject". But in the end you'll be asking "is this alright" or "was it worth it?" and maybe "What's the point?"
