There is a reason why DVDs have subs a certain way, and that's because they're going by certain standards. However, if there were to be two different English subs on the same DVD, one for anime fan standards and one done the traditional way, then we'd have less people complain.
And that really is the reality of that, it's because anime fans see animes being subbed in a different way then what is used in an official industry.
