Yes, I admit they were waaaaaaay too linear with things. I think the creators are starting to focus more on new generation gamers who like being told every single thing they need to do, in stead of on the classic metroid players that are used to the exploring that's needed in order to progress. But like the DS, the Wii is starting to just add gimmicks to games, but don't get me wrong I think the games are really fun but at the same time think the pressure of Nintendo wanting developers to include wiimote functionality is a bit "blah" in my opinion. So less puzzles seems kinda weird to me though, because they probably could have come up with better things to do with the wiimote other than the door mechanisms and the soldering crap.
And now that I think about it I suppose you're right about the mysterious thing. I do enjoy being confused and curious at times but I seem to sway and sometimes I hate it more than anything XD
Also, I dunno, I still kind of wanted a planet escape thing because seeing Samus escape without even showing her ship getting away from the planet really pissed me off. And that shot of her giving the thumbs up was so god damn cheesy >_< IMO she's too "social" in this one.
