Miles away in the downtown district, two adjacent concrete buildings, both what seemed to be looked a bit war-torn. between the two some two-hundred and forty feet up, zip lines crisscrossed between the two. It was silent on this part of the city. On top, were a contingent of the same multi-national group, camped up on the two flat-tops. They choice the site, not only because the bottom three floors were blown out, but also the view game them a tactical view of the city for about 4 blocks
They kept four small personnel carriers folded up and camouflaged under canopies in the top floor of one of the two buildings, the siding of one allowed a straight foreword takeoff despite the vehicle's ability for VTOL.
CAPT Adam Jenkins RM, this was his first time being honcho a multinational unit. His XO was LTJG Johnathon Hunson, a US Navy SEAL, experienced man whom brought with him eight of his own, namely Chief Gravina, a short philpino, mean bugger too.
With the US's SEALs, and the Royal Marine's that makes up of nearly twenty. The US also brought with them four Army warrents, each a pilot. The Aussies had a few airmen which a 2nd LT whom lead. They were mostly incharge of comms. All-in-all roughly 27 men.
Capt Jenkins noted it was quiet this nite, maybe his men will get some sleep tonite. He had two enlisted on the roof's of each building on look out, and two roving watches below. The two man groups kept a strict patrol, only to go down no more then four or five levels, taking no more then thrity to fourty minutes before checking back in with the personnel craft.
With that, his eight people on watch, he kept the watches on a rotation of six hours each. It was standard to keep watches around four to six hours, needed the men to stay rested and alert.
"Sir!" An Australian airman ran up to the Captain "We just intercepted from comm chatter, a skirmish roughly twelve clicks to the south, sir!"
"Right. Let's have a looksie here."
CAPT Jenkins takes out his small set of binoculars and races up to the roof, he peirs out towards the south, SGT Daniels points out in the direction "Sir got sight of a set of Firebee's, I don't see where the other one went to." "Whatta think?" The airman catches up behind "Sir, we can only get so much over there, seems like there's something causing some interference in that sector, sir. Prolly alright if it's closer, but shortwave isn't picking up too good on the Joint Forces net."
Capt sets let's go of his binoc's, letting them dangle on the leather strap around his neck, then he let's out a sigh. "Right. Get an open satillite uplink with command, see if you can get some intel on whats going on there. Maybe the good Colonel would be nice and send some pictures taken from orbit." The airman salutes and scurries off.
"Sarge, go ahead and get chief. And I need Ecks-O here too. Dont need to wake anyone else yet, don't know if there anything serious yet." Captain instructs his NCO before letting out another sigh and looks at his watch. 2300. Something tells him it's going to be a long bloody night.
