Okay, now that I'm done joking around and taken some time to think about this, I've come up with an idea. A serious idea.

Why not make a schedule for all anime conventions worldwide?

Like Mentioning that Ame-con this weekend and I'm out the door in an hour to go there?

This can be done right now. Make a thread about it, it doesn't need to be one thread for all anime-cons. Make a thread for a recent anime-con coming and we can all talk about what's going on in it. I've noticed that the member population here has no trouble posting messages, but seems afraid to make new threads.

Maybe a news ticker? it kind of coincides with the convention idea falcon had. Important events scroll by in a certain section of the board. Oh and by the way, thanks for bringing up my old oekaki idea mav!

The news thing I can do easily for the site, there's a service from Anime News Network.com that allows people to have their headlines added to their site and it updates live. I had that once for TACC but found it to be very... not needed... Having that same or similar kind of thing would only help to slow the load times and efficiency of the forum. This place is already bogged down with lots of images and hidden scripts running in the background.

I've looked through some mods for vB about the Oekaki and gallery thing, I gotta tell ya it's worrying me. I can't just add things to the forum, I have to think about how it'll affect the forum when I upgrade it and how reliable it is and the security issues, etc.

The thing about the fan art/fiction forum was that I had already thought about having all of these kinds of great features added to the forum to make it all streamline and interactive and all that kinda jazz on day one when I reopened the forum. The problem was that... there's a lot of problems with doing that kind of thing that I need to sort out, and every new mod I add to the forum creates another new security issue I have to worry about... bleah. Which is why I have the fan art/fiction forum the way it is...
