lol For those who don't know. Here, Rach is refering back to a conversation she and I had back on MSN. I'm sure Leon will agree with her again since he doesn't like Mario either but let me point out a few things.

She seems to be implying that Mario is the same way when I described Bakuretsu looking like a "pretty girl but with no brains." She told me that she doesn't like Mario because it has no real story, it's all the same and he's in all of those sports and party games that have no point.

But yes, I'm sure we needed a story to explain the Pong paddles motivations, how one Pong paddles father was killed by the other in some complex story line with at least 40 hours worth of gameplay.

I've already told you long ago, Rach. Mario's main games aren't about story, it's about gameplay. Mario is also a well known franchise in the videogame world, and Nintendo discovered long ago that making sports and party games using him is a very good way to make money. It's not generally meant for you and me, but who cares if they exist? And the fact that you haven't played any of the Paper Mario games or Mario & Luigi Superstars doesn't help your case in that regard either.

I'm sure you'll see Mario Galaxy as being equally pointless since *gasp* yes, he's saving another Princess (or two, actually). And it's fine that you don't like games that make an arbitrary plot line just so you can get on with it and play it, figure out all the puzzles and use your skills in an action based formula. But unless Bakuretsu has GAMEPLAY I'm not aware of, your analogy was misused.

Yeah, when I first bought the DVDs, I assumed that maybe it was the first episodes that weren't all that great and it'd get better, so I decided to give it a go and bought the entire series... it... didn't get any better. I got some more fan service, that was nice... but Ikki Tousen did a better job of that and I don't hold that any higher than I hold Bakuretsu Tenshi.
