Linna took two steps behind the man when yet another blinding flash exploded in her vision. Then the shockwave hit. She was blasted across the road and into the front window of a restaruant. Glass rained down all around the shocked Knight Saber as she tried to regain her bearings and count her bruises. One by one her limbs all responded relatively well, no apparent broken bones... except for this strange feeling in her hand. Her eyes opened to find Tom Anderson's smoked and cauterized arm still gripping her hand... with no sight of the mysterious man anywhere. Linna gingerly tilted her head towards the burning road. There was no sight of the man there, at least not in one piece anyway.
Linna pried the dead flesh away from her arm and began to roll into the building when something clinked onto the floor beneath her. A wristwatch worn by the man fell off the limb and settled by her feet. Still kneeling down, she carefully picked up the memorial and settled it into her pocket, resolving to take care of those matters when she had time. She had to tell Sylia about this man who knew her identity... assuming she managed to live through this night.
A squeak behind her snapped her reflexes into action. Linna grabbed a chair and spun around to the noise... only to find a short, emerald-haired girl staring back at her with frightened blue eyes. Linna slowly lowered the chair down, trying not to startle the girl any further. "It's okay. My name is Linna," she offered, holding a hand out to her. "What's your name?"
The girl's worried eyes flashed between the burning fires and explosions outside and back to Linna's thin hand. Finally she reached out and grabbed onto Linna's pinky and ran into her legs, clamping herself to them like a life preserver. She looked up at Linna with her teary face. "I'm Mika. Have you seen my Papa?"
Linna looked around the store and found dark emptiness staring back at her. The power was obviously knocked out now and there didn't appear to be anyone in the front of the small restaruant. The she spied a door leading to the back kitchen area. "Maybe he's..."
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Mika's scream cut off Linna's train of thought. Her instincts told her something was behind her. Out of the corner of one eye she caught a glimpse of the boomer charging its mouth cannon. She dove to the floor with Mika as the back of the restaruant vaporized into a firey blaze of destruction...
