Kyo Kara Maoh!



This is a pretty lengthy anime series running for 78 episodes (obviously broken up into seasons) and I have seen all of them. I found this to be an entertaining series actually with the plot of a demon king bestowed upon a young guy and the majority of the environment set in a medievil era. I guess you can tell from the artwork that it's a bishounen type of series (meaning it's a series full of pretty boys for those who don't know). Of course there's a few gay jokes in there but it never really goes beyond its limit and to be honest it's very tame compared to other bishounen animes.

What I really enjoyed about this series was how Yuri controlled his kingdom when he became the Maoh! (Demon King) through his laughable tactics. He's always trying to get people to see the positive outlook on life but ends up having to fight for his people or against his enemies a lot of the time. His mum is quite hilarious too, she's active and certainly not a very typical mum.

Somehow I also ended up liking Gwendal throughout the series. He originally appeared to be a very stiff character with little much to think about but he ends up having some character development throughout the series (specially when he's with Anissina). Murata (Yuri's friend) is another interesting character that fooled me quite a lot, he's a very deceiving type of person as you don't really know if he's on the good or bad side of the demon world. The ending certainly puzzles a lot of people but it eventually answers his motives.

There's been confirmed announcements of 8 short OVA's (IIRC) that continues on from the anime so I'll be very interested in checking it out as this series was quite fun to watch. I recommend it to the guys who aren't afraid of the gay jokes XD or the fact it has a lot of pretty boys, girls will surely love this one lol.
