The Price Is Wrong, Bitch
The price of everything, other than things you get from a supermarket, is negotiable. And most poeple don't realise this when the go to Fiji. If you see some tropical shirt you want to buy or some sort of souvinier, the price it's selling for is NOT the set price. The salesman expect you to negotiate a new price with them, and whatever the price is, they're still gonna profit heavily because the price they have it set to originally is a clear ripoff XD
Mostly my mother does a lot of haggling, but the rest of us don't really cause a) we don't care and b) we didn't really buy anything in the first place.
Hehehe, in Asia mostly China and Vietnam you should haggle for a lower price than what they originally asked for. If you're a tourist they'll know when to rip you off but if you're a local you should already know the tips of price haggling.
The way you would usually do it over in Vietnam (since I went over there in late 2002) is first ask for half of the original price then aim lower (lol), if the salesperson doesn't agree just simply walk away and 90% of the time they'll beg you to come back and agree on the price you ask for.
