Continuing on...
San Bruno
I'm glad I didn't stay at this place XD It's one hellova seedy "hotel"... it's pretty rundown but the funniest part is that it has a nightclub/bar area.... that is actually a brothel. No, not one of your legal brothels with lap dances and "innocent" fun. You've got your real prostitutes, real encounters in your private room and your real dirty old men with money thing happening here... XD My uncle, aunt and cousins stayed at this place not realising what this place had until it was too late XD *shudders* ew. Oh this place was also waving the American flag... two of em in fact.
For Sale!!
It's not as bad as Asia, but everyone has something to sell you in Fiji, whether it's people in an actual store, seedy people in the streets or small boys on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere (or so it seems) who are waving a bottle of something at you as you drive by... Of course it's not the selling that's imporant to them, it's getting something from you which is what they're all all about. And most of these people will find a way to sucker you in.
Everyone's A Salesman
If you walk into one of these shops of even just near the entrance you'll see around 4 - 5 different salespeople who will literally follow you and ask you if you want to buy this or that or what. If you're outside of the store they'll try to get you into the store. "Come on in brother, we've got plenty of good stuff to buy." XD yeah right, not unless you have a genuine NES somewhere in there. Anyone who has an issue with their personal space should obviously stay away XD
The Price Is Wrong, Bitch
The price of everything, other than things you get from a supermarket, is negotiable. And most poeple don't realise this when the go to Fiji. If you see some tropical shirt you want to buy or some sort of souvinier, the price it's selling for is NOT the set price. The salesman expect you to negotiate a new price with them, and whatever the price is, they're still gonna profit heavily because the price they have it set to originally is a clear ripoff XD
Mostly my mother does a lot of haggling, but the rest of us don't really cause a) we don't care and b) we didn't really buy anything in the first place XD
Sardines In A Truck
If you need to tranport a large amount of people and you only have a small pickup truck? Well shove everyone onto the back and go, go, go! XD We encountered quite a few of those kind of trucks but there was this one that was REALLY PACKED. So packed that you thought people were gonna be thrown off any minute just cause of the bumpy road. We took a picture of it too.
Which reminds me, I'll be posting some pictures in this thread some time int he future.
Wheee!!
I got to ride on the back of a pickup truck. On the way back from the fishing trip. It wasn't packed like the story above this one, but it was pretty cool cause you were thrown all around the place cause of the bumpy Fiji roads. You had to hold on for dear life XD ehehehe.
More will be added to this post soon.
