Actually no, it's not going well for Sony, on the public relations front as well as the sales front. They HAD something good going for them and that was to just let the games speak for themselves and sit back and watch the money roll in. True, there is no such thing as "bad publicity" but Sony was at the top, and the only way to go is back down, and they're not helping themselves with their "we can do anything we want and get away with it" attitude.
They've gained the overconfidence and arrogance that NIntendo once had and they're paying for it just like Nintendo did back then. All of these little stunts haven't been helping, Sony isn't doing as well as they themselves have hoped, in fact, they're doing absolutely terribly when you compare their sales of the original Playstation and the PS2.
