On the subject of the ADV release of Macross VS the AnimEigo release, there are a few things you should know.
- Both releases use the same remastered video so they look exactly the same.
- The AnimEigo release only comes in Japanese with no English version.
- The ADV release comes with an exclusive English version, not Robotech, this is Macross, the way it was meant to be in English. A very cool bonus is that they got Maji Iijima, the seiyuu of Lynn Minmay, to reprise her role in the English version.
- The AnimEigo release has superior audio, it is presented in dual mono with the original authentic soundtrack used when the series was on TV.
- The ADV release has the Japanese in stereo and the English version is in 5.1... The BIG downside is that this version doesn't use the absolute original soundtrack, so the sound effects aren't the way they're meant to be. Example: The gunpods sound more like lasers rather than having that "buzz-saw" sound.
- The AnimEigo release has quite a few nice extras, there are a couple of extras which you can't get on the ADV release.
- The ADV release comes with some of the same extras but also has a lot of exclusive content.
