I agree with what LF said about it being mediocre. Except for the story/presentation aspect, which was above average (which most anime/movie based games usually turn out like crap). It was very true to the source material and felt like a story-arc in the series. All the chatter between Motoko and her team over the com while playing a level pulls you further into the immersion factor. Actually, having played all GitS games (PSX,PSP, PS2) they all have decent stories/presentation that's true to the source material.
Wasn't the first GitS game for PSX the first time we saw Motoko in her current character design in an animation? I haven't played the game in ages.
