There are only two differences with the GCN and Wii version of Twilight Princess. TPWii can run in 16:9 while TPGCN is stuck in 4:3 and of course the controls. 16:9 rocks for anyone who has a widescreen TV... like me
From what I hear, the controls are very well done in the Wii version, the sword play, while it isn't 1:1, is brilliant according to reviewers. But the real worth is the ability to quickly lock onto and shoot at enemies with the projectile weapons using the Wiimote. A lot of reviewers have said that they've been able to do things that weren't possible with other games with this level of control thanks to the Wiimotes pointing feature. The menus are also very easy to navigate around thanks to the pointer. The spin attack and shield bash are mapped to the motions of the nunchaku and work very well.
The only downside people have found is the loss of free camera control which The Wind Waker had. But this isn't too bad because it's going back to the way Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask was in that respect. Plus the camera is intelligent enough that you don't really need it, plus the Z targetting helps when you want to center the camera anywayz. Of course, I still like having the free camera option available so, personally, I'll miss it in the Wii version. Also note that Z-target and Defend are mapped to the same button, as opposed to the GCN version which has L-target and R is used for the shield.
In the end, I'm getting BOTH Wii and GCN versions
